Do you Subscribe To Beauty Boxes

If you subscribe to Beauty Boxes, which ones and are they worth the cost? I have been disappointed by Ipsy and Allure Beauty Boxes and cancelled them both after two months. I have also gotten Target and Walmart Beauty Boxes and have been underwhelmed by them (I know for the cost I shouldn't expect much $7 and $5).Right now I have received 2 boxes from the Sephora Beauty Box, the second box was better than the first. I have read that if you get the Sephora box you should hang on to it as people are on a wait list (I guess I should feel like a chosen one)! I just know after I cancel my Sephora box the next one will be phenomenal and I'll be kicking myself for having cancelled it!

I did but decided to stop. Nor for any particular reason, they were always wonderful surprises even if the items were not a match for me.

With a new puppy, recently signed up for the Bark Box and excited about that!

No. I ordered the Target beauty box once but do not have any beauty box subscriptions. I liked the products in the Target box I received. I would rather have the money for something I really loved and wanted. The monthly cost is not high, but does add-up.

Yes. I get Beauty DNA and am very happy with it. A full size product once a month for 25 dollars. Not makeup though if thats what you are looking for.

I also get the Sephora box. So far just so so. I've only gotten 2 months so will see.

I also get Owl Crate which is a YA book subscription box. Love this. Share with family members and love getting a new book and themed box every month. If you like YA books or someone in your family does I highly recommend!

I get both ipsy and birchbox.

I've done the dermstore one and beautylish, both at higher prices, and they were really good.

But alas at only 10.00 I get the first 2 regularly. May was a great month for both.

Currently, I do not subscribe to any Beauty Boxes. In the past, I subscribed to the Breauty Tube through QVC and most recently to Walmart's. I think the value depends more on how much you enjoy getting, trying and/or sharing different products since there will always be items in each box that you would not personally use. Or, at least, that is the way it was for me. I take breaks from them because I don't like accumulating too many products at a time. I will probably try another one in the future because I enjoy the surprise every 3 or 4 months.

I do! I am subbed to Ipsy and Boxycharm for beauty and sometimes skin care, but I think my favorite is Scentbird. It's a monthly perfume subscription..... I love it...

I get Allure and Walmart. I like trying new things. QVC's was just too expensive, but the only reason I cancelled it way back when was because they started duplicating items.

I haven't taken the plunge. I do watch a lot of the unboxing videos on YouTube but nothing has really made me want to subscribe. I have seen a few Fit and Fab boxes that looked worth it though but I have enough subscriptions like audible, Netflix., Stars, HBO so I don't need more money leaving every month. But it does sound fun to get surprises in the mail

@Jordan2 The site I usually check for spoilers for the "Play! by Sephora" box hasn't been able to confirm the contents, but someone in the comments checked other places, and gave a list of what they read will be included in July's box. Click the spoiler tag below, if you want to know. (Some people like to be surprised, so that's why I'm putting the into in the spoiler tag).

July's box might include: Benefit Dew the Hoola Liquid Bronzer, Too Faced Bronzer (either in Milk Chocolate Soleil or Sun Bunny Natural), Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, beautyblender blotterazzi, Ouai Wave Spray, and Nest Citrine. BUT someone else mentioned that one of the bronzers is supposed to be replaced with First Aid Beauty Cleanser. So the box will include either the Benefit Bronzer or the Too Faced Bronzer. No one had a pic to confirm July's box, so I can't say this is 100% accurate, but a few different people said they had heard/seen the same list.

I used to get several beauty boxes but decided I needed to cut some fat out of my monthly beauty budget and now only subscribe to Ipsy,Walmart and Target. In the past I have gotten Dermstore,Allure and a couple of others but found ,even though they had some quality items, they didn't have enough products I would use myself.At least with the one's I still get I put out very little $ and I do enjoy receiving a surprise.I so badly want the Sephora Play Box but have heard they don't live up to the hype...still might give them a try as I can see them upping their game if customers give negative feedback.

I have gotten Ipsy for about a year. I have almost cancelled it several times. I think it's really better for young women and I am a senior citizen. I wa so excited about receiving it and I think the concept is really nice. Its such fun to get a little "treat" in the mail each month -- something to look forward to.

However, it's been so disappointing for the most part. I rarely use or am thrilled with any of the things I get. At only $10, I guess you can't expect a whole lot. Most times the best thing is just the little cosmetic bag -- which is usually very cute. But how many of those do you need? I am about ready to pack it in.

@Jordan2 The first 8 "Play! by Sephora" boxes I received were great ! Then came May's box, which I thought was awful, compared to the previous 8. June's was better, and July seems good (if the spoilers are accurate). From what I've heard, I guess it's typical for beauty box subscriptions to start out really great, and then go a little downhill after getting a larger subscriber base. Since Sephora seems to still have a waiting list to subscribe, I don't think they will feel motivated to change anything. Honestly, I think the items they gave in the beginning were worth way more than $10, so I really can't complain about not being as happy with the last couple of boxes. I'm going to continue because I still like them enough, and the $10 cost counts towards meeting the VIB level. If the spoilers are correct, I'm looking forward to trying the Ouai product in July's box. I've been wanting to try something from them.

After trying kits and multiple item purchases, like these boxes, I decided this is not for me. I hate being stacked up on product, especially items I don't care for.

@I like celery of course now that I get it the quality of the boxes have gone down (I received May and June)! I swear I'm like the kiss of death to anything! It seems if I decide to cancel Sephora won't care, someone else off the waitlist will get my spot. You have a good and safe weekend too!

@Jordan2 I have an "update" on the spoiler for July's box. It seems this month's box is somewhat customized according to your Sephora Beauty Insider profile (or some people filled out a profile for the "play! by sephora" subscription when they first signed up. I don't remember if I set up a profile for "play by sephora" or not, but I did set up profile info years ago when I first signed up for Sephora's Beauty Insider). Anyway, if you sign in to your Sephora account, click on "My Beauty Bag" or "Purchases," and you should see if you'll be getting Box A or Box B. Box A = Combo/Oily, and Box B = Normal/Dry . I've read some people's accounts aren't showing a box "type." Also, you won't be able to see this info if you check your account via the Sephora App. Check via the website.

No one knows if future boxes will be "customized" or if this is just a one time thing.

The products for July's box really haven't changed -- just that skin types (Box A or Box B) will include the appropriate items. Click the spoiler tag below for exact items included in each box:

Every box will include: beautyblender blotterazzi, NEST Citrine, and Ouai Wave Spray.
Box A (combo/oily) will also include: Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer (there was confusion over which Soleil bronzer, but I think it's the Choc Matte), First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser With Red Clay, and Smashbox Photo Finish Oil Free Foundation Primer Pore Minimizing.
Box B (normal/dry) will also include: Benefit Dew the Hoola Soft Matte Liquid Bronzer, First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser, and Smashbox Iconic Photo Finish Foundation Primer.
