Snail secrection in my makeup

To my surprise for the first time I read the ingredients in my IT CC cream. The first ingredients is water, the second is snail secretion. I looked up what the makeup world had to say about this and it turns out it's very good for my face. Well knock me over with a feather!

Yes...elastin, glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid... to name a few of the stuff in that stuff.

Yes, and each and every time I apply it, I think of the snail slime I'm putting on my face. I must be out of my mind.

Sort of how I felt when I first learned one of my favorite ingredients in hot and sour soup is tree fungus! It's still one of my favorite soups though.

I figure it's better than the insect parts that we all ingest in our foods. Cereal, flour, dry packaged mixes etc etc etc. And, the government sets guidelines on the amounts that CAN be in our food products! Icky ick.

OH NO....I thought the IT CC was cruelty free. The TSV is going back...read about snail extraction harvesting. Like any animals that are harvested for human consumption...cruelty is involved. I loved the CC results...but I won't support the means. This product is being returned tomorrow.

Isn't this ingredient called Squaline? I found it too disgusting to envision using. I wonder if products with this ingredient are on anti cruelty lists. I will look up the information on this.

Squaline is made from Olive oil and is very good for your face. The way that this slime is collected must be not harmful or Jamie wouldn't use it.

I've heard of save the whales, but save the snails? Having them make a little slime is less harmful to them than having them for lunch as escargot!

FYI: Neither squalene nor the related squalane have anything to do with snail secretion.

I would imagine as each person reads the ingredients and is surprised by the snail secretion, they too will share t heir surprised find on here.
