My dermatologist told me years ago that a separate eye cream isn't necessary and to just use the moisturizer I use for the rest of my face. That works well for me and keeps my eye area skin very moisturized.

That said, I got a sample recently of Cerave Eye Repair cream in a tube, so I used it. Totally fragrance free, great ingredients like niaciamide, hyaluronic acid, etc., and it felt great. I used all around my eye without any tearing, burning, etc. ( And I'm a contact lens wearer so I have to be especially careful.) If I were to purchase a separate eye cream, I'd definitely go with that Cerave product I tried.

I have used eye creams since I've been in my early 20's. I have changed brands, etc., but always found them to be helpful and once I hit on a brand was fine. Now --- every single one I try makes my eyes water and get red!!!!

I have to use all fragance free products, so the scent can't be the problem.

I am thinking just the nature of the creams is the problem. Perhaps the formula smears and gets in my eyes and causes the watering and burning.

I thought maybe a gel might work better and not cause this problem.

Any suggestions?? And as I said, has to be very gentle and fragrance free.

If not gel --- than what?

Thanks so much. I need help. As my eyes are starting to get very lined underneath from not using my eye cream!!!

Hello! Here's an idea: try using your face moisturizer as your eye cream. This is what I do for daytime and it works just fine. What I have found is if my face an tolerate a cream than my eye area can probably handle it too.

Dr.Denese MD 33 EYE is a gel and works great!

I have super sensitive skin and a ton of allergies so finding a product that works and does not have fragrance is a challenge. I also like her Eye fixxer Upper duo. The uppper eye is a cream but it does not go on the eyelid. The lower product is a gel and very soothing. I've not had a problem with any of these treatments traveling into my eye.

Two eye treatments I love are Borghese's Advanced Spa Lift for Eyes which is a light textured gel/lotion blend. Another suggestion if Ole Henriksen's Ultimate Lift Eye Gel. As the name says it's all gel.

OP--I have the same problems with my eyes. After awhile they would start to sting and water . Tried many kinds both cheap and pricey. I now use First Aid brand eye repair that you can use over your WHOLE eye, upper lid, under and even in that place near your nose.. And it doesn't bother me at all. It's a balm that is white and it instantly absorbs. I use it at night, all around my eye, but then just under my eye during the day. comes in a small jar and I think is $38. I've been using it for a month now and still have alot left. Good stuff!!!

Said to get an unscented serum but also said not to go right to the corner of your eyes where anything could seep in, just stay a tad away since some will migrate there anyway you don't need to apply right to the corner edge, will go there a bit anyway.

Give an unscented serum a try using just a little bit, doesn't take much for a serum.

@wagirl

Thank you! I will make note of this product. I used to be able to use all kinds of eye products -- now, everything makes them burn, sting and water!! Grrrr!!!

@AspenGrove

Thank you for your post! Believe it or not, this stuff even made my eyes water and burn. I am a big fan of Cerave and was disappointed.

A serum will sink in much quicker it said and won't irritate like a cream if you have sensitive eyes.

@doglover3

Thank you for your tips. This makes a lot of sense! I think this is what is part of my problem. The eye cream is liquifying and getting in my eyes before it dries totally.
