JM Whipped Argan butter problem!

I've fallen in love with the JM Argan Oil products, and in particular the scented whipped body butters. Two days ago I received the Argan Oil and Mai Tai Pineapple body butter set. The oil was fine, but the body butter had already been opened and there was some of it missing! I know I'm not nuts because there always is a thick plastic seal under the lid that is so firmly attached to the jar that's actually hard for me to lift it off. It wasn't there, and the butter has absolutely no aroma and was all stuck to the lid.

I called CS, and she said she'd check to see if it was supposed to have a seal on it. What?? She said she couldn't tell from the description if it had one or not. Has anyone ever received a cosmetic in recent years that didn't have some type of seal on it? She just said to return it as defective. I'm not happy, and I don't even know if I'd want a replacement because I still don't know what it's supposed to smell like!

I am on AD for the sweet clemintine body butter and infinity cream and I just rec'd my 2nd delivery. The body butter DID NOT have any seal on the jar. I wish it did.

Yuck. I would never accept one without a seal. Did it have the scent listed on the bottom of the container? Maybe you got an unscented one by mistake.

Yes it did have the scent on the bottom of the jar. If anything, it has a slightly rancid smell. All the other ones I've received previously had the seal on them, even that set of 4 oz. jars that was the TSV. I hope this is not the way of the future for these butters.

I would send it back for replacement or refund since it sounds like it's defective if it's been used.

I received an AD with Josie's small & large unscented body butters, divne butter, argan oil & bath oil. The small butter was sealed the large butter & divine butter are not sealed. None of mine looked used.

Since I use the unscented I have no idea what the Mai Tai Pineapple smells like. Maybe someone else can help you out with the scent.

Sometimes with those products like the body butter can end up all on the lid during shipping when the package gets tossed about. I always smack mine down on the counter before I open a product like that. IMO they should be sealed.

The 8-oz size of the JM Body Butter has never come with a seal. I don't know why the 2-oz and 4-oz sizes do and the 8-oz does not, but it's always been the case. I can't remember if the 19-oz comes with a seal or not.

None of the product was missing. The 8-oz sizes always come with a giant air bubble. They have since the beginning and continue to do so. We've been talking about it for years now, along with the lack of a seal. They are sold by weight, not by volume, so the air bubble does not have an impact on the amount of product you get.

My Mai Tai Pineapple smells delicious in the tub, but it is a much more delicate scent than most of the other JM butters and fades more quickly on the skin, as well. It reminds me of Vanilla Bean in terms of how delicate and lighting scented it is.

@Nightowlz Yes, I tried "smacking it down" like you do, but it wouldn't come off the lid. Then, when I reclosed the top of course the stuff got all gooked up in the screw top grooves. A mess for sure. I don't know........I'm hesitant now to order any of these butters without knowing how they are packaged.......and if they will be full.

The 8 oz ones don't have a seal. I don't see how a brand new item that just came out could have been used and returned and I don't think QVC resells returned body products anyway. Having product stuck to the lid means nothing, it's not like these products are shipping in boxes that say The Way Up on them. I just smack the top of the jar when it's new to get as much product to the bottom. Then I use up whatever is stuck ot the lid first.

What they're doing with that size is weird, though. Wish I had know before I ordered.......thanks again Chynna!

You're welcome, @2blonde. I know it's weird. The whole "some are sealed and some aren't" thing causes a lot of confusion because it sets incorrect expectations, which is a problem.

I'm not really worried about seals for items I know are shipped directly from a warehouse, which all the QVC items are. I'm more inclined to be concerned about seals when I buy a product off a store shelf where people can open whatever they want. Something without a seal from a brick and mortar Sephora or Ulta bothers me because I know that people often ignore the fact that some things are labeled Tester and others are not and will open up anything and try it out.

Mine are OUT FOR DELIVERY... so I'll take a look when I get home and see about the scent. I bought both of the OTO sets. I love her butters.

@taginsc2016 For me the big deal is the mess, but mostly that there is no scent. I'm thinking that the seal helps keep the aroma in the product and keep it fresh, but I don't know. All I know is that mine does not smell at all like mai tai pineapple. It only has a very slight "off" scent. All my other JM butters smell really good, and I look forward to using them.

the fact that some of JM's products don't come sealed bothers me. I called CS the last time and then contacted her company, too. I got a message back saying they don't seal them because they don't want extra packaging. Well, I want a seal - either on the box or the jar, either way is fine with me. Because of that I no longer buy her body butters. I didn't realize it depended on the size of the container - that's very interesting.

@GinaV24 Yes, until I received my first 8 oz., I was unaware of this because I already had the larger and smaller sizes that all came sealed. So, I don't know how their reply to you makes sense if they can add the "extra packaging" to the other sizes.

My 8oz didn't come with seal but I'm not stickler for that stuff. The 2 oz did. It doesn't bother me in the least. I don't think most of the beauty products are sealed.
