Shaving Cream - What do you use? Why?

I recently watched a youtube video on plus sized women and lingerie. She recommended Coochy Shave Cream. She is/was an "enterainment worker" and highly recommended it to keep those sensitive areas bump and irritation free. Of all people that should know high quality shave cream, I thought, why not. So I picked some up for $10 on Amazon and shaved my legs today. Wow what a difference than using regular conditioner! I don't know what the difference is but the shave cream says that it can be used for conditioner, but my legs are super smooth and soft. They also make an after shave powder to help those sensitive areas with some added protection and also an afer shave mist for moisturizing those places. Here are the pics, and what do you use for your body shaving and why?

I use an epilator, so I can't help with your shaving cream question...

but I can say that using witch hazel afterwards cuts the redness for me by at least 50%.

I don't have a brand preference. I use women's shave cream from the drug store. I used it because I can't shave bare legs and it makes them soft.

When I had to shave before menopause, I always just used soap water and a hand shaver....that's it. Now I have no hair on my legs or under arms to shave. The plus of menopause!

I have for years always used a good thick hair conditioner on my legs, rinse just enough to get residue off and pat dry. Always soft and silky.

Hey not fair! I'm in menopause (for years now) but still need to shave my legs (not as often) but I need to shave my arms the same as always...every other day! Grrr.

I discovered long ago that the shaving products I'd been using were actually drying out my skin. I started using hair conditioners and they worked much better. Recently I grabbed my Paula's Choice creamy facial cleanser in the shower and used that. Wow. Works even better!

That's a plus that I didn't get. I went through menopause 6 years ago & I still have a mustache & have to shave my legs & underarms on a regular basis.

I just use whatever Beekman soap I have in the shower & the 5 blade Venus razor (I can't remember what the new name is but it's still 5 blades) Beekman used to leave my skin so soft that I didn't need to use a separate moisturizer, that's no longer the case so I moisturize my legs after I shave & dry them.

I don't have to shave my legs anymore due to chemo 4 years ago as the hair never grew back on my legs---it did grow back everywhere else, just not my legs. But when I was shaving, I used hair conditioner. I still have a few bottles of hair conditioner as I don't use it on my hair---makes my hair too soft and I can't do a thing with it. Hate to throw it out but may have too. It works really well however for shaving.

I don't use any shaving cream on my legs. Just a little soap or body wash. On my face, I borrow my husband's Nivea shaving cream for sensitive skin.

For years, I have gone to Walgreens or Target and bought the largest, cheapest bottle of super thick hair conditioner I can find. The brands always vary, depending on which is cheapest.

I get a wonderful very close shave on my legs. The conditioner prevents any drag at all on the razor and when I rinse my legs, they are incredibly soft! Also, I can see what I'm doing, when I use white shaving foam, I feel like I'm shaving blind!

I have from time to time used shaving cream. I think it is just one more step and product to keep in the shower and tub. I also didn't like the occasional rust on the so called "rust-proof" can.

Lately, I have been using a $5 body bar soap by DHC, the (Japanese) olive oil company. It is an anti-aging oil-based soap with CoQ 10. The lather is crazy good and it is hard-milled so it lasts a long time. It works great for shaving too!

I am much happier using an electric razor. No nicks and I always shaved my upper lip and my legs daily anyway. I'd never go back to a razor.
