I know you can fool some of the people some of the time. Philosophy seems to be going for all of us all of the time.

Beautypedia informs us:

hope in a jar, original formula is sold as philosophy’s world-famous therapeutic moisturizer, but it’s a rather ordinary formula that does not contain lactic acid as claimed. Instead, this has lauryl lactate, which is the ester of lauric and lactic acids. Although the product has a pH of 3.2, lauryl lactate does not have exfoliating abilities; rather it functions as an emulsifier and enhances the spreadability of creams. Jar packaging won’t keep the antioxidants in this product stable, and it’s really not deserving of its alleged worldwide fame.

How many times have we heard that this product is so wonderful because it has a gentle exfoliant? But it doesn't does it? And the formula has changed. When Oprah raved about this cream years ago it was dense, thick, almost suffocating. The current formula has the texture of a lotion. Gold Bond is denser. What other subtle deceptions are underway ? Who bought them out? What is their reputation? What can we expect? believe?

I think most, if not all, of the cosmetic/skin care products we hear praised to the skies are a major rip-off marketed to take advantage of the gullibility of women. Wrinkles are going to appear, skin will sag and all sorts of pesky imperfections appear as we age and no product in a bottle or jar is going to prevent them. It's all hype and flat out lies.

Gave up all open jar products, including HIAJ. After reading up on how creams can lose their potency in open jars, & evaporate see no reason to buy an open jar cream or lotion. Unless HIAJ changes its packaging see no reason to ever return to it.

I have noticed many of Philosophy's products have changed. Purity doesn't perform the same, Hope cream thinner, fragrances are lighter and smell different and don't last as long. I think Coty purchased this company a couple of years ago. In my opinion they are cutting corners and losing their following.

Supersize Hope in a Jar, stopped me from ever buying skin care in a large size, @CoG. My HIAJ went real bad after about six weeks. And this was supposed to be six months worth. It got all watery, turned yellow and smelled awful. Nothing to do but get rid of it fast. No more supersize anything for me. The same thing happened to me with Dr. Denise melatonin day cream, supersize. Just went bad: got all muddy, thick and rancid. Fool me once, you know the rest....

I don't listen to all the hype -- I use Hope in a Jar because it works and I think my skin looks extremely good after using it along with Microdielivery wash and Purity for several years. I am not gullible or desparate.

I can't use this product because something in it burns the daylights out of my eyes. No matter how far away from my eyes I applied this, my eyes would sting, burn and water like crazy.

My sister was using HIAJ oil free with SPF 30 and loved it. It came in a tube. However, it appears they've discontinued this because she cannot find it anywhere and it's not listed on the Philosophy website.
