I've been using Paula's Choice Earth Sourced moisturizer for several years now and it works great for me. I have oily skin and only use it at night as I don't need it under makeup, but it's not greasy and absorbs well.

I am sick of spending big bucks for facial moisturizers. I've tried Clinique, Kiehls, Origins and Dermologica. I am looking for something cheaper that works. It seems no matter the brand there are issues such as smells bad, greasy, i just want something that works for my 60 year old skin that doesn't cost $60.00 a jar. I don't have a problem with spending that much but I was just wondering if there was something else.

Not sure if you're looking for an AM or PM moisturizer ( with or without sunscreen). I have dry skin and have been using Paula's Choice and can recommend the moisture boost daily restoring complex with SPF 30 if you're looking for something with sunscreen. I plan on ordering her moisture boost equivalent of the moisturizer w/o sunscreen when I run out of what I'm using now. One nice thing on her line is that you can order samples to see if the product suits your needs. She also has an excellent customer service department for answering any questions you might have about combining products. Good luck with your search.

I don't know what kind of complexion you have, or if you're looking for any other benefits besides moisturization. I am close to your age and have normal skin. In the AM, I use Mizon Intensive Firming Solution Collagen Power Lifting Emulsion. In the PM, I use Skinn Deep Wrinkle Protocol Creme Reverse. Technically the Creme Reverse is a treatement product that goes on prior to an actual night cream, but it provides plenty of moisturization on its own. I don't find either product to be greasy and they both absorb nicely.

I've been using Cetaphil for many years and I'm 75 yrs old - it's rated one of the best by Consumers. Go to Costco.com - on the first page, they show Cetaphil (pump, which I prefer) - Two 20 oz. sizes plus one 4 oz. size -- for $14.99 ($4.50 off their regular price) - and free delivery. Can't beat that!!!! I just ordered it - as I'm low on the one I'm using. Aveeno moisturizer is also highly recommended.

There a line of products that you can find in supermarkets with a good health and beauty section, and Ulta may still carry this line: Derma E. (search for it that way).

I really like their Anti-Wrinkle Vitamin A Creme and the Vitamin A Glycolic Cleanser. Yes, I do use some other products but I always have these in my rotation. Each of the above products run about $15. They are made in the USA.

The creme is in no way greasy and does not have much of a scent at all. The cleanser takes off makeup easily and doesn't leave my skin dry.

In looking at their website I now see that they actually produce a lot more products and even kits!

Any of the following oils: almond, argan, coconut, jojoba, marula, rosehips.....there are more

You have to experiment to see which suits you. I have my favorites. Relatively inexpensive at most health food stores (even WF) and online. It takes just one or two drops. Look for organic.

Some sink in right away; some take a few minutes. Some go on dry skiin; some on damp skin.

I've been using Elta MD for a few years and it does the trick. I'm 73 and have "normal" skin which used to be oily when I was younger. I love EltaMD night therapy and also their eye gel. I use their cleansers because I have ultra sensitive skin. The prices, IMO, are great (not pricey but a bit more than your "drugstore" brands). Check out their website; I buy mine on <lovelyskin.com>.

I highly recommend looking at the offerings from Paula's Choice. They make several moisturizers for different needs. And none of them are smelly or greasy. All PC products are fragrance-, irritant-, and cruelty- free.

They are relatively moderately priced, and their customer service is head and shoulders above the rest.

I use their Skin Recovery moisturizer at night and sometimes their Resist Skin Hydrator in the day.

Meowingkitty, you may find that any of the coisturizers which you have tried would have been effective if you had included a drop of oil in your moisturizing regimen. There are so many oils on the market today and just about every skincare brand has contributed something to the oil bandwagon. I personally like Josie Maran's Argan Oil but there are fine brands such as Shea Terra who make other types of oil which may be ideal for you Some of the others cost less than Josie's too.

If you prefer to keep trying creams my sugestions are:

$$$ Josie Maran's Argan Milk; Ole Henriksen's Nurture Me or Truth Cream Advanced;

$$ Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel CreamExtra; Olay Regenerist Deep Hydration Cream or Night Recvery Cream

$ Cetaphil Cream

I have found hit and misses with many brands at all price points. Can't say I have found my complete holy grail yet but can recommend Oil of Olay's Regenerist's line which does work for my uber dry skin (compromised by also living in the desert.) It's very well priced and available just about everywhere.

I am tempted to try Paula's Choice for the driest of skin as I do read many positives about it. Am going to try and use up some of my stash first but may give that a try next. I like to have multiple creams in my rotation and PC might fit in well.

In my opinion, Marula oil has the most to offer of the oils as it contains a considerably higher percentage of antioxidants than Argon oil or other well known oils and I like to get the greatest benefit from whatever I choose. When you read up on Marula, it has an impressive ingredient potency.

Adding a drop of two of an oil to any moisturizer does make a difference. Just remember that oil can penetrate through a moisturizer but moisturizer can not penetrate through oils - keep that in mind if applying both in your routine. Hence why I prefer just adding a drop or two to whatever moisturizer I do use - avoids any conflict of when to apply what.

Dermatologists created both Cerave and Cetaphil hence why so many derms will recommend them. They hear about them in med school so often rely on those brands to recommend. Many derms know very little about other brands or types of moisturizers particularly if they are not focusing in on anti-aging as a sub speciality in their practice.
