I am no longer working and I pretty much stopped wearing makeup. I still wear morisurizer everyday and an occasional blush when I do go out so as not to scare anyone. But I have given up on mascara and foundation. I never wore much else anyway. No eyeliner or lipstick. It's not that I don't like it, i find it just sweats off most of the time and looks yucky after a few hours so why bother. Have you found that once you are no longer working you stopped wearing makeup daily?

I have found that I wear much less make-up as I age. I can't wear eye shadow because it makes my eyelids red and scaly. Foundation settles in my wrinkles and makes them so much more noticeable. So I fill in my eyebrows and apply concealer over age and sun spots. I add lipstick sometimes. Less is more!

I could have written your post!

I also pretty much no longer wear makeup. I am 60 andI retired three years ago. I Just wear my face products when home... sunscreen if I go out and work in the yard or go for a walk. When I go out say to the store or the like, I just wear my skin care products, sunscreen and a little blush and lipstick. I even quit wearing eye makeup. I like how I look with a clean face. I have great skin because I take care of it, so why cover it up? All the years of makeup to work in in the public was a chore. I love the feeling of no foundation clogging my skin.

Mostly I use my skincare when I'm home, bb cream with spf, blush, do my eyebrows and maybe line my lower lashes if I have appts, but thats's all. Takes me all of 5 minutes. I don't work but when I did, I put on a full face. Glad thats over!!!

I could have gotten away with little or no makeup when I was 30, but not at 67! My face has evolved so much over the years. I'm not talking wrinkles so much as redness and discoloration around the eyes and, more recently, droopiness.

My makeup routine is more a case of first hiding what's already there, then adding what's already gone! I have no lips, my eyelashes are thin and light colored, my eyebrows are non-existent......you get the picture. I always wear some makeup, even when at home......you never know when a neighbor could stop over. I don't want to scare anyone's children!

I actually LIKE wearing makeup- it is fun to me, although I like it to be simple and easy and I always prefer the basic, no makeup makeup kind of look, unless I am going out and then I amp it up a bit. On an average day, I just wear mascara, light/sheer foundation, lipgloss or balm, and maybe some eyeshadow (lately I prefer a shimmery light pink or taupe).

I used to play around with makeup alot more when I was younger and it was always fun to see what I could come up with. I had some really artistic friends that could do some pretty wild stuff with makeup, stuff I am sure many here would not appreciate, lol, (think Kat Von D and crazier) but I thought it was amazing.

Anyway, even on my days off or on vacation I like to look polished but that doesn't have to mean complicated or heavy!

Actually, I am the opposite of the OP. When I was working we so frequently had to wear surgical masks ,on &off all day long, and they would just rub all my makeup off so I preferred to sleep a little longer in the morning and go to work barefaced. Now that I'm retired I put on some MU every morning.Usually just powder, blush and lipstick.

I've always worn a full face of makeup to work. I've been recuperating from surgery at home for the last 7 weeks. Haven't worn makeup once during this time. I was just saying to my mom this morning that I'm going to try to just wear a very light dusting of mineral powder and mascara when I return to the office next week. My red cheeks show through so I won't even need blush.

I'm still working and have never worn makeup daily. I like makeup, but if it comes down to what I spend my time on in the morning, makeup has never been a priority for me. I would rather spend 10 more minutes sleeping or finishing my breakfast than worrying about mascara.

I'm more likely to wear it when I'm out with friends than at the office because then I'm not in a rush.

I almost never wear it in the summer because, as you said, it just melts off. It gets to be up over 100 here and can also be humid, so it's easier to just wear sunscreen and reapply that without worrying about putting it on over makeup.

I'm almost 54. My skin is in decent shape, but I no longer cover it up with all the makeup I used to wear. I moisturize, use a tinted sunscreen, and a little bit of the Perricone No Foundation foundation. I also touch up my brows with a little brow powder and use mascara. I like to use a tinted lip balm, but will put on some lipstick when I feel like it. I no longer use eye shadow. My eyelids have darkened as I've aged, and I feel that the eyeshadows don't look good on me anymore. I read an interesting article about makeup tips for women over 50, and it mentioned that you should wear less cosmetics when you're older. Powder looks cakey and many foundations just accentuate fine lines, etc. It also said that older women should stop wearing eyeshadows and eyeliners. I know this isn't applicable for everyone, but since using less I feel that I'm actually looking better.
