I used to use BE mineral foundation and also Laura Gellers baked foundation and they worked very well; but I have to wonder if the formulation for these products has changed as now, they don't look as nice as before. And I'm older and have gone thru chemo and new meds so it maybe just my skin too. But I find that I need to moisturize thoroughly before using the powders and then I look better. Otherwise, I am using liquid or creams now with much better results. I put a light dusting of powder over to seal things in. My fave is MAC translucent finishing powder--such a lovely finish.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a powder-form foundation with good coverage? (For instance, Laura Gellar balance & brighten.)

I am looking for it more in a compact style -- not a loose powder. Also, is there such a thing as a hydrating foundation?

Healthy ingredients are always a plus.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi @Julie_23 - My favorite is Laura Geller Baked Elements. I really don't want to be without it. It's nothing like the Balance and Brighten, which didn't do me any favors. I've had pretty good luck with the powdered version of Josie Maran's Matchmaker Foundation, too, but the Baked Elements is still my favorite.

Check the index or use the search feature. There was a recent discussion on powdered foundation recs. that you might find useful.

I have tried many but found the best for me to be L'Oreal true match - they have liquid foundation and a compact. I use the powder daily but I use the liquid when I get dressed up and just a light dusting of the powder to set it.

The BE Ready foundations are very good for light to moderate coverage.

Same for the Lancome Dual Finish powder foundations.

I also bought last week the Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Powder Foundation. All three come with sponges but I prefer to use a small kabuki brush for coverage.

The UD one is quite nice and none of them oxidize on my skin when using a primer such as Lancome's La Base Pro.

I am fond of IT Cosmetic Celebration Foundation and Pur Minerals compact. Sometimes I swirl between the two to combine and I get a great finish. Does not settle and makes my skin appear fresh.

I gave up a 20+ year use of BE when everyone was telling me I looked dry.

BE Ready Foundation compact works for me and I've recently discovered Mineral Fusion Pressed Powder Foundation that is very good as well. It comes in a wide range of colors. The product is silky, finely milled and has buildable coverage. I use it over a primer since I find that any powder or mineral foundation goes on smoother.

Mineral Fusion's web site offers the ingredients and shade descriptions which are helpful. However, I did find the product for less money on that drugstore site.

Before the product was discontinued, I favored Redpoint Hydraboost Firming Foundation (used to be offered on QVC) and I'm still on the hunt for a substitute. I've hoarded as much as I could find and now I'm sadly down to my last compact. If anyone is familiar with this pressed powder and knows of something similar, I'd appreciate any suggestions. TIA!

I love Laura Mercier's Smooth Finish Foundation Powder. Compact form, and is buildable. Can be used dry with the sponge, or you can slightly dampen the sponge for more coverage. Love it! Plus her finishing powders are also fabulous!

There are two that wow me; Chantecaille's and Tart's.

I have very dry skin and powder foundation is a no-no for the most part. The Chantecaille powder was a gift from a family member who also has dry skin and I fell in love with it. I use the shade Petal which is pale with a slight pink/peach undertone. It's amazing as a powder brushed on over foundation and can be used under the eye.

The 2nd one is a new one from Tart available only at Ulta or Tart.com. It hit my eye because the lightest shade is PALE and that's rare. It's a creamy powder and wow, just fantastic on dry skin. This one has a neutral base with just a hint of yellow; I love it as it cancels out my redness.

I landed up at Sephora before the store closed and got a sample of the UD Naked Skin Liquid foundation in #3 shade. I tried it this morning and it is so close to my skin shade-- I went out in sunlight and there is no real line of delineation between my jawline and neckline.
