I have had my Clarisonic for MANY years and it's going strong. I used to use Cerave as the cleanser with no problems.

I recently had to quit using WEN - my hair was falling out at the dermatologist said that it was "contact dermatitis." (another issue!!!) I had a LOT of WEN left over, so I started using it as a face wash and a shaving cream.

Today when I went to clean and change out my Clarasonic head, to my great horror it was FILLED with black mold. Both the disposable head AND the inside was filled with black gunk. This never happened to me in the past - and I've had this Clarasonic for at least 7-8 years.

Does anyone know if WEN might have caused this? I am assuming that it is pure and doesn't have artificial preservatives...hence the mold.

Does anyone use WEN successfully with their Clarasonic?

Suggestions?

So sorry to hear of this problem for you. I could not use Wen as my cleanser with my Clarisonic because the product would gather up too much under the brush head. Just made more of a mess than I was willing to deal with.

Tatcha,Dr.Perricone and Prescriptives cleansers work well with the Clarisonic for me.

No. I think anything can cause it.I recently found this too and I do not use WEN on my

face hardly ever. I was shocked too. I think we just have to unscrew it often and rince it

out and let it air dry.I also spray the brush with bleach after each use ,but that did not help with the mold

edited to ask:~~~

if those that do NOT find mold unscrew their brushes off often?

I would suggest taking it apart every time you are finished, wash and dry each piece separately - there might be moisture seeping in creating this problem

@terrier3: I doubt the problem was caused by Wen or any cleanser. It's probably just normal build up. The first time I took mine apart I found some black gunk too. Now I just remember to clean it every couple of weeks. I use mine twice daily and it's still going strong after three years. (I think the Clarisonic works so well, it allows me to use less expensive OTC cleansers. In the long run, I'm saving money since I no longer buy department store cleansers - Clinique.)

I used WEN with my Clarisonic for about a year with no problems (Clarisonic finally died--it was old, and I haven't replaced it yet). When mine needed charging, about every 3 weeks, I would remove the brush and thoroughly wash it with warm water and my hand soap. I then let it completely dry before storing it away, and would put a different brush head on the unit.

I also made sure the Clarisonic was lying on it's side when I finished using it each time to help the water drain.

Don't know if this makes any difference, but I never applied cleanser directly to the brush. I rubbed the cleanser all over my face/neck first, then wet the brush and began using it.

WEN is NOT all-natural, and it DOES have preservatives! Not saying it won't mold, but the all-natural, preservative-free thing is a common misconception about WEN.
