Charged extra for hair trim at chain hair salon because my hair is long!

I just got my hair trimmed up and was dismayed when I went to pay my bill to discover that I had to pay an extra $11 just because my hair is long!!!!

Has this happened to anyone else?

I have been to this place before and never had this happen. It is only a chain hair salon in a mall --- nothing fancy.

Sometimes I just go for a trim and blow dry-- not shampoo-- and it is cheaper that way. This time I said, just go ahead and shampoo, trim and blow day.

I never looked at the price chart before I requested the service so it was my fault. Had I known they were charging an extra $11 just because they consider my hair too long, I would have just walked out. I mean, hair is hair - big deal. And my style is definitely a no-brainer. Bangs, and pretty much one length for the rest.

I could understand if I were going for a more complicated style or I would have been going from my long style to a much shorter and different styling all together, but this did not seem right just for a trim and wash. However, I did not feel I had the right to complain to them, since as I said, I did not consult the price chart before I requested the service. But ---I will not go back there.

I am just posting this because I am now wondering if this is a usual practice in salons?
