I've been using Loreal True Match Mineral Makeup. I'm in the color N1-2 Soft Ivory this is the lightest color they make. I use IT Cosmetics Large Bronzing Brush to apply a very thin layer over my face and it just blurs away any imperfections. I use a little blush and Lip gloss and I'm good to go. I hope they never discontinue this product its my Holy Grail because it looks so natural, like skin but better.

Foundation alternatives?

I see that there are other women here that, like myself, don't like heavy or full coverage foundation.

For weeks now I have not worn any foundation and I think I finally found what works best for me.

Everyday, after my skincare routine, I use Josie Maran's colorless SPF 47, I tried her tinted but didn't like it as much, it looked too dark on me.

Then I use one of these, Bare Minerals Brightening Veil or Sonia Kashuk's loose translucent powder or Chanel's loose translucent powder. I apply them with a flat top brush, as if I were applying foundation.

I have to make sure that the skincare and SPF have had a chance to absorb then I'm good to go.

Over the powders I just put a very litttle bit of blush, cream or powder, mascara and gloss and my face looks so much better than when I wore foundation.

I can see my skin but it's a bit blurred out, I prefer not to use concealer at all.

Foundation just doesn't look good on me, must be my face type, it kills my skin.

As far as my skin goes, it's OK, I mean it's normal, no major issues.

I used to go regularly to get facials and peels and my skin looked amazing but I stopped when I got pregnant because it was uncomfortable to lay there for hours.

I should start up again but don't know why it's so hard to pick up again after I stopped, but I will.

Was wondering what, those of you who don't like foundation too much or at all, use as an alternative.

I have tried & love Laneige BB cushion makeup. I buy it at Target. It has sun protection in the formula, isn't heavy or greasy, covers blemishes well. BTW, I am 66 years of age, fair complexion, some brown spots on my face. Price is moderate, you can get sales at Target regularly.

I only spot cover with foundation & concealer. . I use very little. I have been working on a dewey face for daytime and have added JM Argon Oil and a few other JM products. I have to say - I wish I had not waited so long to start using them. Now I see what all the raves are about.

I like to make my own tinted moisturizer out of whatever foundation I'm playing with at the time. I mix it with some moisturizer and a drop of L'Oreal Magic Lumi primer for some radiance.

Some moisturizers oxidize the foundation and immediately turn it darker or more orange, so I have to find combinations that work together. Other than that, it works really well for me and allows for me to customize my final product based on whether I need more moisture, more coverage, or whatever.

I do not wear foundation either. Too masky. I'm fair, Irish type skin. Lots of red, blotchy areas and freckles.

I discovered PTR CC tinted moisturizer. It's the best product I have used. It is light, moisturizing and covers all the red spots and freckles.

I also bought the IT Veil and it is just okay. Probably should have sent it back but didn't.

The PTR CC tinted moisturizer is amazing on my skin.

I don't like full or medium coverage foundation. I like my actual skin to show through. I prefer CC creams (Missha's are the best for my skin), tined moisturizers or a light dusting of Laura geller's baked elments powder foundation. They match my skin and just give me that "my skin but better" look. Like you said, @c_la_vee, looks like your skin but "blurred" or, as I like to say, perfected.

I don't wear concealer either. My every day "face" is BB cream/TM/LG baked elements foundation (not all of them at once, lol), mascara, and lipgloss and maybe some eyeshadow. I really don't think I look good with blush in general. I have some that look pretty good but I just feel like I look better without it. I also don't use primer or setting powder. I don't need those products as they don't do anything for me.

I am 61 and don't wear foundation alone; I usually add my moisturizer to it and get a really nice coverage. Also I absolutely LOVE Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. I also do the same to any bb/cc cream too. I need some coverage and color or I look too washed out. Decided my normal medium color is way too yellow on my skin and switched to light. I'll warm it up during the warmer months with a little bronzer.

I am blessed in the skin department, very few wrinkles , still have freckles though, never had acne so I don't have any scars from that. My daily routine is so simple - spackle with moisturizer, L'oreal BB creme as a concealer on a sunspot and a small mole on the rt side of my face then L'oreal true match powder very lightly and a spritz of rosewater to get rid of the powdery look. Then clear mascara on lashes and brows as my brows are unruly and have to be tamed - and blush and lip gloss - done. takes about 3 min. If we are doing anything I do more - liquid foundation and regular mascara, but for the majority of the time this is it.

I normally wear No. 21 in all their other BB creams but this one was wayyy too yellow (I have pink to neutral undertones). When I wore it, hubby asked if I felt okay because he said I looked sickly! It does make me look jaundiced. I wish they'd make a more pink toned one (and remove the witch hazel, but that is another story). Fortunately I only paid like $8 or whatever it was for mine. I may try the Physicians formula eventually.

I use their lightest color, 21 I think, but it isn't yellow on me. I'm pink/blue/cool undertones, and for some reason it works. I get pink easily on my cheeks when I even walk too fast resulting in a flushed face. This really neutralizes that. I do top it with a powder, It Cosmetics most recent TSV, that is also a foundation, but I use a light dusting. The combo really gives me coverage, a bit of dewy look and feels super light on. I use a big powder brush to do a light dusting of the powder. I put the cushion on then get ready with my hair and breakfast stuff, then dust it when it is dry.

I use Olay Total Effects CC as my foundation. It is the one that is swirled in a pump bottle. It gives light coverage, and then I use concealer as needed and finish with a shine control powder. Btw I am over 50 with very oily acne prone skin.

Thank you for all the replies!

I can't answer each individually because there are so many but I have read each and every reply carefully and you all gave such good information for those of us that like a lighter makeup application. I'm going to read the replies again and check out some of the products mentioned.

Wanted to say, those of you that have freckles, don't cover them! Freckles are cute!

Thanks again to all you ladies.

I am 60. I find I use less and less foundation. I like just using my serums, skin moisturizer, sun block and on top of all Isomers BBCream which is colorless.

just a little blush and Lipstick. No eye makeup at all. Less is more the older you get. I have nice skin because I take care of it. Nothing to hide!

For the last 10 yrs. I've used Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturizer Balm (for drier skin) & she has another for normal skin. It has my SPF, moisturizer & just enough coverage that my skin isn't bare, but natural looking...no heavy foundation for me either.

The older I get the better I look without a lot of makeup. Simple seems to work so much better. I used to do a smoky eye and now I look like I got socked in the eye if I attempt it.
