Do you bring your own nail polish to the salon for a mani/pedi?

I always do. For 3 reasons

1. If I get a chip soon, I can easily retouch

2. Seems like some of the nail polishes at most nail salons I've been to are old... I've also read that some salons add solvents to the nail polish to make them last longer and that can lead to chips in the polish

3. I'm picky about color...

yes, i almost always take my own colors. the nail salon doesnt carry butter london and zoya, which are two of my favorites.

i like to be able to repair a chip if needed.

it also allows me to have a wonderful collection of colors.....and actually use them!

I always like to bring my own polish for the same reasons you have. I love getting a Mani pedi, such a treat. I also like to mix together polish colors. I even mix fragrances too!

I prefer to use the polish at the salon. I only get colors on my toes and haven't had chip problems.

I'm the exception who has never gone to a salon for a mani/pedi. But if I did, I'm sure I would bring my own polish. Obviously, it makes repair of any chips possible. But the main reason is that I love collecting polish and thus have a greater and more unique selection of polishes to choose from.

Always. I like to get Spa Pedicures. Whenever I would pick a polish from the salon it would start to chip within a week. I can go three weeks at a time now, and my polish still looks good. I also like having my own colors.

@Krimpette #1 - I can't help you since I do all my own manicures.

#2 - From everything I've read, bacteria can't grow in nail polish, so that shouldn't be a risk unless the salon has modified the polish by adding inappropriate ingredients. Any health risks are more than likely going to be due to poor sanitation or use of improper techniques.

Thanks for answering, juperier. That's kind of what i thought about nail polish. As to doing your own manicures, I can do my left hand just fine, but I'm not very good on doing my right hand!!!!

Never. I get gel polish and they have a huge selection of gels at the salon. Because I get gel polish, I don't ever have to worry about chips or touch-ups.

@Krimpette I have never gotten a discount for bringing my own polish. I also don't think there is any hygenic reason to bring your own polish.
