Wen or Joan Rivers hair color.........hair loss !!!!

As much as I hated to stop my Wen, my hair is falling out........I also stopped my Joan Rivers hair color, I felt it was filling up my hair folicles and clogging them, and they say a healthy scalp...healthy hair !!! I went to my Dr. had all my blood work done, all is good !! I need help.....any ideas for hair growth ??? I started Rogaine and Nioxin.......and I wait & pray !!!

This was mentioned on a recent episode of "The Doctors"; they said that 200 women are involved in a class action lawsuit.

However, they did not say that there is any merit to it. At this time, there is nothing to substantiate the claims that WEN is causing the hair loss.

There are so many other things that can cause alopecia in women (or men); I would think each of the women in the lawsuit will have to undergo medical evaluation to determine whether there is another cause for their problems. Only then will anyone be able to make a valid claim.

For myself, I recently started using WEN and I love the difference in my hair! More volume, keeps its style even on the second day and I don't even have to use any styling product when I blow dry.

All this speculation about WEN being the source of an alleged problem for 200 women (out of how many total users?) is premature.

I recommend the following:

1. As I Am coconut co-wash. It contains saw palmetto which is good for hair growth.

2. The As I Am leave-in conditioner is also great.

3. Either Aveda Invati or Skinn Collegenesis Scap ReVitalizer spray. Both are good.

4. Andrew Lessman's Healthy Hair Skin & Nails.

@pede read an Allure article and it said basically that all styling products can cause buildup so you might have to stop everything you use and introduce things 1 at a time to see what happens. I don't know how to do links but it was a recent article.

I caught just a minute of the Doctor's segment and I got the impression that they didn't think it was WEN but most likely something else. They did say if anything causes adverse effects with anything you use to use common sense and stop using it.

I suspect a simple blood test isn't going to show why you lose hair. There are lists all over the internet on the causes. Some may surprise you.

I use WEN and lose the normal amount. Sorry it didn't work for you. 100's of other brands out there luckily.

Pick a gentle shampoo, it does not have to be sulfate free to be gentle. Also Oil based shampoos tend to be strengthening and reparing. Loreal has a new Oil shampoo that appears to be a near dupe of Redkens Diamond Oil. Smells exactly the same. Tresemme has a Botnicals like one with macadamia and Avacado oil, I do prefer salon brands and Paul Mitchell is great and they have a lot of natural oils and extracts that are healthy for the hair and scalp and they are very gentle. I also Like Macadamia Professional Shampoo. its very expensive but beautybrands has deep sales on it periodocally Drugstore wise organix extra strength argan oil is also good.

Well one of the wen formulas caused me a massive allergic reaction. I got a nasty red ichy rash all over my face, neck, back and hands instantly as i was massageing the wen in my hair and rinsing it out. It took a solid week fo rthe itch to go away also two other formulas burned my scalp. I never had hair loss tho but I believe these woman do have merit. if you loose hair in clumps while useing wen then the hair loss stops when you stop wen then its very obvious they have merit. Now I dont hate wen, some of the other formulas had no ill effect on me but i no longer even try to touch wen other than the oils

Not true, you've tried every new formula that comes out, including the ones just recently introduced (your last purchase was dec 2015, only a month or two ago) and you've said you love the mousse just recently and you love the lavender mist. You also have never said you had any reaction to any of the formulas except the pumpkin. You've even left positive 5 star reviews of some of the formulas. You really should get your WEN stories straight, lol.

I thought this was posted on here many times..the "news" re: WEN and hair loss and lawsuits etc. Well now you know! :/ I was never fond of the conditioning cleanser idea thinking as you it would clog up my follicles.

I do not use WEN but have had hair thinning and do believe mine is hormonal...a long menopause and now post meno. It was not sudden with my loss but got worse and taking one Biotin 5,000 mg. in gel cap form ONLY has helped my hair stay on my head...new sprouts pop up when others fall out. It's a good supplement and doesn't react to other meds. My stylist is a smart lady and into health and she tells everyone about it--she's helped me SO much! Good luck

If you purchase and like products leave positive reviews. If you have a concern with a product don't use it. But purchasing, giving positive reviews, & saying you have issues all at the same time is just, well, it's ........ ~shrug~

Womens once a day Rogaine and Hairmax. Started seeing a big difference in just 2 months. BTW I use Wen, but my hair started thinning years before.

Yes to all of this.

In early 2014, I had an episode where I had a lot of hair loss and it was caused by stress. High blood pressure can also cause hair loss and my blood pressure always gets high when I'm under stress. I used WEN before, during, and after the hair loss episode because I was (and still am) certain that WEN wasn't the cause. Once everything in my life got settled down, so did my hair issues and I am back to losing less hair in the shower or around the house than I did when I was much younger, which I do think is linked to WEN.

I have left positive reviews and then days, weeks, months later realized that the product wasn't as good as I thought - have you never had that happen?

I didn't mean to upset anyone.....I am desperate (obviously some of you haven't had their hair fall out, it is NOT fun, as my hair is already very THIN ) And I don't get on this blog but a few times a year, so if it has been posted a lot about Wen, I didn't know ........and complaining about a product, may help others that are having the same issues.....just saying !

@pede - I think you can "unclick" on the post and remove the "best answer" thing. You probably have to go into the post you clicked on (which I think is one of mine) and you should see three dots in the upper right corner. Click on those to see what the options are.

Anyway, I certainly wasn't upset by anything you said! I have a friend who had a bout of alopecia and, no, it isn't fun. Thankfully, for her, her doctor got it sorted out, but she's still very careful about what she uses on her hair.

WEN user for almost 6 yrs...began noticing my hair thinning & clogging drain, brush, all over clothes, thinking wth? Had all blood work come back 100% Talked to hair stylist-discussed my Wen and how long I've used it...she said to STOP immediately-this was abt 1 yr ago, I began using It's a 10 or something like that b/c it had keratin in it, makes it feel thicker but DRY.....went back to Wen after abt 6 mos....Luv Wen, soft & detangled, SHINY & smells wonderful----hair still falling out!!

Any comparisons or opinions? Thnx

It is most likely WEN. Many have had issues with hair falling out even a few of mt friends. When I used it it was the first time my hair started to fall out and I noticed more in the drain. Stopped using WEN and my hair is back to it beautiful shiny self and no more clogged drains for me.WEN never again for me. Personally worst product I have ever used! Just stop the WEN and over time your hair will come back.
