I have 2 questions for you:

* Which type of eyeshadow do you prefer and why? Powder, stick, cream.... whatever.

For me, powder sometimes flakes or gets into my eyes, causes eye irritation, or is just too darned sparkly. I've bought powders that look matte in the pan, but are pearly when I put them on. Plus, I haven't found a powder that really lasts on me.

* In your opinion, what is the best long-lasting stick/crayon eyeshadow sold at drugstores? I'm on the hunt for something new. I'm looking for a taupe-y gray or dark stone color -- I've seen several, but haven't bought one yet.

Thoughts?

I am liking the Clinique Chubby stick eye shadows these days. I bought a set of 3 eye shadows plus 3 eyeliners at Nord*strom for $27 I think. The creams were a soft pink, soft copper and lavender and I have been wearing them with great results. Didn't think those colors were me but they are very neutral and stay on all day. I do use powders and have many, but stick to the Urban decay basics which are all neutral. I am 61 with very dry skin and have toned down my make up when I wear it anymore.I also use an eyelid primer that helps even out the color and texture of my eyes too. The creams goes on easy and I did notice my eyes didn't tear up after awhile so maybe the powders were the reason for that .I don't know much about drugstore cream shadows but just goo*gle that. Theres dupes for everything!!

I prefer BE mineral eyeshadows (loose is best, READY is OK) and also like the SKINN palette ones. They allow me to have control over the intnsity of the color. I apply lightly using a brush, always over UD primer. I get the look I like & it stays put until I take it off.

I find I have little/no control with stick ones. I find stick ones do not go on my lids smoothly either.

I have not tried cream shadows much, if ever, but have no reason to.

Like everybody, I have oil glands in my lids and shadow creams just do not work for me. They slide all over my face. Especially Mally's: hard to say whether they slide or disappear first. I use a powder and like Bobbi Brown or Clinique. I'm sensitive to shadows and eye liner so I have to be careful for both.

I have and use both, powder & cream but reach for cream more often now. They are so easy! My favorites are Mac paint pots in matte shades. Quite natural, painterly and tailor gray. They stay on and if I want to add a little powder for sheen (not sparkle) the powder eyeshadow stays on forever. Some paint pots have a lot of glitter & although I've purchased by mistake, I use them sparingly for highlighting purposes.

Have you tried CoulorPop eyeshadows? I enjoy their eyeshadows, and I am attached at the hip to the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette.

Seriously, CoulorPop have created nice matte shadows, and I have seen great feedback on YouTube. Before I tried setting sprays, I use to always used Laura Geller's Spackle on my face and eyelids. I still use it depending on if I'm trying to pare down products.

I don't have any problem with any eyeshadows or any of my makeup lasting all day, but I always use a setting spray before I put on my eyeliner and mascara.

Drugstore? Maybelline Color Tattoos, hands down. Despite having cream shadows from all ends of the spectrum, these are just a great formula. They now have them in stick form. I haven't tried them, but they have good reviews, from what I've seen, and several neutral shades. I definitely agree with Colour Pop, too! $5/shadow, and it's a creamy powder formula. Lots of matte shades (lots of all kinds of finishes), they blend well, last a long time, and are just an overall great product. HTH!!

I like both stick and powder- just depends on the look I am going for and the mood I am in. I tend to prefer creamier eyeshadows like in stick forms but I have some great powder shadows I like just as well.

I don't really have any stick drugstore ones I use since most aren't cruelty free but I do like LOC shadow sticks at birchbox.com. They are only $10 (you can always find a 20% code out there) and really really last- no creasing or fading. Much better, imo, than Mallys and many others I've tried. Colors are limited right now but it is a newer brand so I hope they expand more. Cruelty free too, if that matters to you.

Thanks for all your suggestions and comments, ladies! I've taken a few notes.

I checked out ColourPop's website -- I don't think that's for me. It was fun checking it all out, but not my cup of tea.

I've seen the Maybelline Tattoo Sticks and even had one in my cart once - then changed my mind. If they really last and stay true to color, I'll buy one.

I love my Makeup Geek e/s's . I have about 8 of the Colourpop e/s and I love them as well! They are $5 each and they have matte, satin, pearlized and metallic. I love both these brands and would put them up against any of my high end shadows. They are both made in the USA and they're both cruelty free!
