Hi everyone, I just received my order of PC 1% Retinol. I am anxious to try it because it is cheaper than the Perricone Retinol I currently use. I tried to use it last night - I pumped until I had to change hands and pump some more. LOL So I decided to let it set overnight thinking it had been lying on its side in the mail truck all day. My she and I both tried it again this morning. No change. I can't find anything on it that Ned's to be opened nor are there any instructions.

Anyone have this issue or have any suggestions? I have email's PC and am waiting for a reply. Thanks!

Return it for a new one. I have Paula's Choice 1% retinol and it pumps very easily. I love the product. It has done wonders to my face. I feel my face is firmer. My husband even commented. It does the same job as the nuface which I stopped because of the light after a few weeks last year.

Once I had a problem with the Algenist retinol. The pump stopped working after a month but before my 30 days. I called CS and they sent out a new one and I returned the non working one. So I would call CS to have one shipped to you and be sure no charge on the return.

I got a reply from PC - I did what they said and it worked. Thought I'd pass along for anyone who has the issue:

TThank you for contacting us. I'm sorry you've been having difficulties with the pump for your bottle of Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment . This particular product is packaged in an airless pump dispenser which utilizes a vacuum system to dispense and keep the contents fresh. Airless packaging helps to keep air and contaminates out of the product, which enhances the formula's stability and effectiveness. When using your product for the first time, you may need to "prime" the dispenser. There is a disk that pushes the product to the top which can become stuck, you may need to bang the bottom of the bottle 3-4 times on a flat-hard surface to loosen the disk then pump the dispenser slowly about 15-20 times upside down. After it starts pumping you can pump right side up as normal.

If the dispenser stops working at any time, simply repeat the "priming" step. Do not attempt to dismantle the package. There is not supposed to be a "straw" in the packaging. If you only opened it once and were able to put it back together, the product should still be effective.

I had this happen on one of my bottles of the 1% retinol and I did manage to get it out of the outer container. I found that the top was not fully screwed on the inside plastic container. After I screwed it on tightly and put it back in the outer packaging, it worked fine. I was able to use the rest of it. I don't think any amount of priming would have helped in this case.

I would just return the defective pump. Lots of them are. I now use Dr. Gross's retinol and have for a couple years. It's great with good results and no problems.

I've been using Paula's 1% retinol for the better part of a year. It's a fantastic product! I have been using her products since she first launched her skincare line about 20 years ago. Her whole line is fantastic. I have strayed from time to time, but always end up regretting it. My skin can be quite sensitive and her skincare is very non-irritating. Anyway, I do mix the retinol with my moisturizer. Despite being almost 50, my skin is stil quite oily and can break out so I use a very light moistuizer (currently using Paula's Resist Moisturizer for oily skin). I dispense a dollap of moisturizer and one pump of the retinol. I really have very few wrinkles and I credit Paula with my good skin!

I am over 50 with very oily acne prone skin. I tried this and other retinol products, and they didn't help my skin at all. I never saw any results that made me want to continue using. I know others love it though. I use other PC Skin care that does work for me. We all have to find what works for us. I have been using prescription strength Retin A for about a year and a half now and that works much better for my skin.

I do like it very much and have had no irritation. But I went through my first bottle in just a little over six weeks -- I had worked up to what I think is the 3 drops (considered the highest strength), although it's hard to tell with the pump dispenser.

So I'm actually thinking of trying the Clinical cream next time. My skin should be pretty well acclimated, but I'll start slowly. It is much more economical. If it doesn't work out for me, then I will stick with the booster, which btw, I use alone.
