I started a thread separate from the Young Living thread since some people might be confused about the the subject line on that one and might not click on it. And because some of us are asking about oils in general, and not necessarily a specific brand. If you use essential oils, please share what oils you use and how you use them. I'm intrigued and I'd like to start incorporating them into my routine. I may also post in the health and wellness board as well for a different audience. So if you browse both, I apologize.

I started using E.O.'s back in the summer. And after trying them on my pets, I decided to try to use them for everything. I now have about 50+. I think my most used oil is Lavender. Simply amazing how many cures Lavender has!!! Tea Tree also but I hate the smell of it.lol

I use Peppermint for aches & pains.

I tried a few EOs after I had completed cancer treatments which left me a shadow of my former self. I tried a couple of different sources but was most impressed with those from Original Swiss Aromatics. I can't remember exactly what I started using -- I no longer use the EOs, at least very rarely use them. There was one EO mix that you could use after the shower -- blended for boosting immunity -- and that one I liked using very much as I didn't have to mix it with a carrier oil. But the upside of using EOs wasn't really worth it to me. I received a very small benefit. But maybe a professional aroma therapist would have been more help had I sought their counsel.

I believe it is German chamomille that has a very hypnotic frangrance and I would like to have incorporated it in my life somehow but in the scheme of things I haven't been compelled to do so.

I hope you find the perfect oil(s) for you and good luck to you !

I use lavender, peppermint, and frankinscence. I use them for tons of stuff. I have an Essential Oils book of recipes for various things called The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy by Valerie Worwood. IT has tons of recipes for various issues. It is organized by issue, so you just look it up and there it is.

Mine started with Young Living since that is what the specialist uses. There is a local nurse practitioner that has a small office where she does scans of your body and recommends various herbs, vitamins, and EOs to deal with them, sort of an herbalist. It has helped my fibro a great deal and I sleep better. I got my diffusers at TJ Maxx for super cheap, $30, compared to those on the YL. My mother is a distributer. I also use Plant Therapy oils because they are great and much cheaper than YL.

Again not all oils are created equally. I would not trust another brand of oils except for young living as they can not guarantee where the oils came from or what is truly in them. As for using a pure 100% oil on your skin, you most certainly can. I use them daily on my whole family and we are all healthier for it.

I started using doTERRA essential oils in August and am loving them. I am now sharing/selling them to friends and family. Great for uplifting mood, imunne support, aches and pains. I am truely amazed. Love their supplements, vitamins. Great company! And like others have said not all essential oils are created equally. the grocery stores say, not for internal use. Most of doTERRAs oils can be used internally as well as topically & aromatically, because they are pure essential oils. (grocery stores oils say they are 100% pure, but they are NOT, if they were pure, you could ingest them)

Which EO would you recommend to ingest and for what benefit?

How can "pure" be determined exactly? Doesn't the FDA require proper INCI names be listed on EO's? If my EO states Anthemis nobilis and only Anthemis nobilis how can that not contain only Roman Chamomile? I think the IRFA has a similar requirement. I hear they are really sticklers. Not sure I'd want to explain myself to either group if I was not disclosing all ingredients. Not to mention some of the EO review sites. Have you read about the co. that did, in fact, mistake their Blue Tansy? Some of the EO review groups take random co. samples of random EOs and send them to labs. It's the kiss of death to a supplier if one comes back misrepresented within the EO community.
