Most of my life I was never big into expensive haircare products then I began to try some. I used my share of Ojon and others. I bought Living Proof when it first came and it was the only product in my life that I had a reaction to. When I sprayed it it was all chemicals that it made me violently sick. I should have returned it but I threw both bottles out.

that was along time ago. I'm a Wengirl, have been for 8 years and will continue to be .

It is my understanding that diffuse hair loss (as opposed to discrete bald spots, which the Wen lawsuit documented in the article I saw) is genetic. Minoxidil is good for diffuse hair loss and also I believe Propecia, though the latter is more expensive and I believe you need a prescription. If you haven't lost any hair yet and you are of a certain age you won't. Not all people lose hair as they age.

As for the bald spots, I have suffered from alopecia areata for 28 years. Never has a doctor advised me not to use Wen or any other hair products. Luckily, in all but one case I've had small or smallish spots, usually only one and usually at the nape of the neck and not visible, from time to time. They used to say it was caused by stress. That irritated me because I knew it wasn't true and didn't appreciate being blamed for the bald spot on my head! Now they think it might be an autoimmune condition. IT IS NOT CAUSED BY WEN. I use Wen, though most of the time when I've had bald spots I wasn't using it.

I can use a steroid liquid and 2.5% unscented minoxidil on a bald spot, but the truth is that it doesn't make a lot of difference. It generally starts growing back after three months no matter what I do.

It's sold at Ulta. I used WEN for about 2 1/2 years. My hair looked great but my scalp became very irritated and then painful. i did have some hair fall out-more than normal but I really didn't connect that WEN was causing it until I could see my scalp through my hair. Some of my hair loss has been due to age & genetics but some of it was due to WEN when my scalp became irritated. I have not had that problem with Matrix Biolage and my hair looks pretty good, probbaly as good as it did when I used WEN. I am using Neutrogena's T/Sal once a week as a clarifyier/scalp cleanser. I did try a couple of Living Proof's Shampoos but I did not like them on my fine, naturally curly hair. I do love their Full Thickening Mousse though. Ulta & Sephora both carry Living Proof.

WEN did none of those positive things you described for my hair. I still had to color it as usual. Since that was the main reason I tried it, I didn't stay with it. If you like it that much and aren't having issues, I don't understand why you would stop. I use living proof sometimes, and that is a completely different product from WEN. I find success in switching products around. I plan to continue that since it works for me.

I dont think you need to stop useing wen. Not everyone looses hair over it but I think its healthier to switch out a bit with something else. I had the same issue with tea tree. Turned me red as a lobster on face, hands and back and took over a week for the redness and itching to go away. Lavender burned my scalp. The seasonals and rice formulas do not hurt me at all i just prefer something easier to rinse out. Clarol hair food has a honey apricot cleansing conditioner that works great and wases out in seconds. In ike it alot. Matrix ccs are excellent too but not fond of the scent

My hair color was the prettiest it had been in yrs. And the best part was it was all natural.(just using Wen) I didn't have to go to a salon or use harmful chemicals to have hair so beatiful. I didn't really get anything else from it tho.Nothing good or bad. But, in the end, if I or my family run a risk of hair loss or something else just as harmful, I'm done.

Jennifer Aniston is not only a spokesperson for Living Proof, she is also part owner. Her long-time hairdresser Chris McMillan is part of LP's development team. I of course haven't seen Jennifer's hair in person (and I don't presume you have either) but maybe it looks thinner to you because she wears it so straight nowadays, as opposed to the 'Rachel' cut which had more body to it.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with Living Proof. You should contact their company and let them know.

Living Proof was my goto brand before switching over to WEN. They make great styling products and still use some of them. Have oily hair and LP is good is you have oily, thin, normal healthy hair. Even though it worked for my oily hair better than most brands, it did dry it out eventually after using it for sometime. The reason it worked initially for my hair was because it is drying and can go days without washing my hair, about 3 times a week. Think if you have damaged, processed and dry hair it may not work. A lot of their products are designed to keep your hair clean longer with volume, which makes me believe it strips oils somewhat. Just like most beauty products what may work for some may not work for you. They have a lot of try me kits on Sephora & Ulta. Like LP and would switch back if absolutely need to do it but prefer WEN.

Hair loss can be caused by many, many things. I experienced a lot of extra shedding and hair fall in late 2013 and it got really bad. I was using WEN at the time, used WEN through the hair loss, and still use WEN. For a while I thought it was the start of menopause, a known cause of hair loss for some women, but it was not. My hair loss was caused by stress and high blood pressure and once I got both of those under control, I stopped losing hair. I haven't had any issues with hair loss since, and again, I was using WEN before, during, and two years after. Now I'm back to the point where I shed much less than I did before I started using WEN.

I used WEN for a year or two, but was losing too much hair.... this is several years ago, nothing related to the current brewhaha.... I switched, and have done much better. I use and love Living Proof. I had moved away from it for a while because of the expense, but just bought more, and my hair is very happy again (and so am I!)! I do think I need to shake things up, though, and also purchased the Tweak'd trio on HSN last week. I'm planning to alternate the two, and am expecting good results.

At my age my hair has tried it all and I can honestly say that Living Proof made my hair feel worse than anything I've ever used on it since the old days of Prell. For all of their so called scientific research they must not have used any test subjects with natural kinky curly hair.

I will always be willing to try new things, but for core basics will stick with Wen and Aveda for cleansing and conditioning.

I hated Livibg Proof. Left my hair super gunky and dull. I'm still using wen a couple of days a week. On the other days, I just switched to Ojon. I'm using advanced volume shampoo and damage remedy conditioner. I love it! It leaves my hair super bouncy and shiny....a rare combo for me to achieve.

I use Living Proof and have for a while now and my hair looks the best it has in years.... I could not use WEN... my hair came out like crazy while using it..and I noticed no difference in my color lasting... plus, I dealt with clogged drains constantly from either the product itself or hair....

I now alternate between a few Living Proof shampoos and conditioners and I occasionaly throw in an Alterna shampoo... I use styling products from both... my hair looks great.

I highly recommend.
