I Like Dimitri But....

I don't care for the hard sell he does. He and the hosts constantly say you should buy 3 and 4 of everything. I don't like someone spending my money I can't afford to buy multiplies of everything. I watch a lot of QVC and HSN and I can't recall any other vendor who does this.

@Jordan2 Yes,he really is like a used car salesman in his sales tactics.....rather tacky! I am starting not to believe him any more the more I listen to his repeating the same lines over and over... I think he has become greedy.

I think Dimitri has always been a bit hard sell. I've heard hosts on HSN and QVC suggest buying more than one of something but not 5 or 6 the way Dimitri often does. One night when I was watching late he suggested getting 9 or 10 of some TTV. I think evine put a stop to that immediately as the next morning he was back to 5...lol.

He is on waaaaay too much. And the more he talks or peddles his lotions, the less interested I become in them.

That channel turns over far too much time to him.

He has too many variations on a skin cream. And too many monotonous products can equal: "How many ways can I sell you essentially the same item??".

And too much non-stop, never-take-a breath sales talk can cause a vendor to quickly morph into a carnival side show barker.

I can't flip that channel fast enough everytime I see him on.

I find Dimitri to be very high energy and I believe that is because he loves his products and believes in them (as do I since I have been using them for over 2 years with terrific results)

as far as suggesting how many to buy, we are all adults here and know our budgets and limits so his suggestions of buying 5 or 6 fall on deaf ears if I couldn't afford to buy that many...if you are easily sold on suggestion alone, perhaps watching home shopping is not for you..just saying

He learned to sell from the queen of cosmetics (Adrienne Arpel) and his style is similar...loud, fast and usually full of information... I see he is not everyones cup of tea...we all have those vendors ( can't take that Philosphy lady with her never ending bubble bowl and I could never take Mally- another loud over excited host...but YMMV)

I'll always say if all the beauty products that the vendors hard sell on all the shopping channels would actually work. Some of us would get carded going into a bar or if I wanted to join a senior citizen center I guess I would be carded to make sure I'm old enough.

We would look so young. Some of the vendors look like they had work done. So many of us will always look for the fountain of youth and the sales pitches out there will convince you they got the formula . Lift your chin,make your skin flawless, soften those lines and deep wrinkles,puffy eyes disappear,look ten years younger . Well when I don't have my glasses on I see no sags and bags and wrinkles in the mirror. That's my magic formula!

Threads like this just make me SMH. For not liking his tactics, people surely seem to spend a lot of time watching him to be able to tell if he's had work, or know what he said from some appearance somewhere in history. If you don't want to use his products, that's fine, move along. Why watch someone you find fake, annoying, or offensive? You are in control...change the channel.

Lobstergal good for you!! Say it like it is and there is nothing wrong witth that. If I hear change the channel one more time I think I will just explode. People have the right to voice their opinion whether it is what people want to hear or not. If a poster does not write something that is so sweet as cotton candy and just so politically correct it seems people's same answer is change the channel or quit watching. The Q does this all the time @Jordan2. I'm sure you've seen their many many offerings of "Buy more and save." You save $4. and $5. the more you buy the more you save.

I've tried more high-end products than I care to remember. Dimitri's products are equal to them if not better. He sells many target products, and if they're not good they won't sell.

I think Dimitri is passionate about his product and has enjoyed his work all his life. I'm not at all offended by his hard sell. As a mature woman who has dealt with salesmen, I know what is good, what I will use, and what I want.

Love Dimitri's personality. Ordered FOUR of his 6X Balm this trip around.

Dimitri's personality is entertaining, BUT I don't buy his shtick anymore. A few years ago, I bought some of his products and found that they are way too heavy/greasy for my combo complexion. More importantly, they didn't do a single thing to improve my skin.

Fast forward a few years, the only thing I get in his line is the Enriched Softening Essence on ebay. Less expensive.

I'm glad to not be the only one that can't stand the Philosophy bubble bowl! If someone seriously believes that silly demo of pouring a half bottle of soap on a bath scrubbie and dipping it in and out of the water to make as many suds as possible is going to make me want to buy it then they are a few bubbles short in their thinking LOL!

Now before all of the Philosophy diehards get your knickers twisted, just relax before you start hating on me because I do use and gift it myself.....just having a bit of harmless fun here :-)

Dimitri often says don't buy something of his if you can't afford it. I've NEVER heard a vendor or host say that on the other shopping channels!

I will be tuning in the day after Thanksgiving, he is suppose to be bringing something really special. Also on December 18 he mentioned he will be back with some kind of capsule (I think) that he actually made for himself. Dimitri said himself they are pricey and hopes people can afford to purchase them.

I don't agree. Cumulatively, he is asking people to spend far more than a piece of Le Creuset (which will last you a lifetime, by the way). for creams that really one could find in any drug store or Walmart.

Sure, perhaps no one item is off the charts in price. But he doesn't ask nor expect a customer to buy only one item. He barely describes the first item before linking it quickly to a second and third and fourth "vital" item as to make the first item work. lol

He (and most cosmetics, especially skin care items) are allllll about the upsell or selling or attaching another 10 items to the first for one to "achieve the results one is seeking" (and the profits he wishes to make).

The lotion-potion creams industry as a whole is a bit of a Mr. Elixir's side show thing anyway.

The best skin I ever saw on any older lady was due to cleansing with a gentle inexpensive cleansing soap and them applying simple Vaseline overnight.

All the rest is a pandering to those seeking a Fountain of Youth. I have not met a wrinkly, skin damaged, aging-skinned woman who didn't look her age. And if she were to admit to spending the thousands of dollars of which many do to look that way, well, I would feel for them.

The only real results might come from some light dermabrasion perhaps. And healthy living, staying out of sun, good hydration (drinking water), not smoking...oh and GENETICS play a far bigger part it in than some overpriced goo in overpriced packaging.

And "systems" are just code for up$ell, up$ell, up$ell. Nineteen steps to looking your age - but a bit shinier? I don't think so.
