Anyone remember Spoolies?

They were made of rubber, I believe, and you would wrap the hair around them and place on the top. This is going way back.

Remember these from my childhood, and yes that was quite some time ago. Just saw them presented on Evine.......what was old is now new.

Yep...every Saturday night and then slept in them so my hair was curled for church - a lot easier than pincurls or the torture of all tortures, sleeping with brush rollers. I just saw the presentation and it brought back some memories for sure. I'm almost tempted to get some.

I've never heard of/seen these before. I don't understand how to use them? I wonder if they'd work with long hair because they only really showed shorter hair. They never really showed us how to use them! The host asked her several times to show how to use them and all the host did was remove them. Frustrating.

ETA: okay she finally did show it once on the little girl. Seems easy enough!

@HappyDaze You're a youngin, that's why. You take a small section of hair and wrap the hair around the center of the spoolie. Keeping the flat end close to your head, you then flip the cupped end over the hair and it secures the spoolie in place. The size they were showing is better for no longer than neck or shoulder length hair - not super thick hair either. I do think they make jumbo spoolies for thicker or longer hair.

@JeanLouiseFinch thank you! I will have to look to see if they make jumbo ones. They seem pretty easy to use. Do you think they make good curls? I like using the sock bun method but it is a bit too hard to do myself with longer hair.

@HappyDaze LOL, I haven't worn them since I was a little girl. They curled well back then.

Yes I used them as a little girl as well! on pin straight baby fine hair-they do work. Spoolies! I would expect to see these in the vermont Country store catalog. I almost picked up the phone to order also.

@JeanLouiseFinch I looked on spoolies website and they only show one size 1 3/8, and they said this is what was orginally called the "jumbo" size. Unfortunately Evine does not state the size of these but if Spoolies website only shows one size, I assume Evine only carries this size as well? Anyway, they look fun and easy. Is it silly I like the glow in the dark?

@donna71 Or Lilt. How about Lustre Creme shampoo, in a jar? Or Halo? Or that green wave set slime in the tall jar - stick the comb straight in it and the comb through your hair when putting it in a ponytail. Oh the memories

I thought that pink hair tape was so cool....until I tried it and it irritated my skin. I tried to use it to tape my bangs down overnight and woke up with a red strip all across my forehead where the adhesive broke me out in a rash! I was so embarrassed!

Wow, I can't believe that they're bringing back Spoolies! They were kind of the bridge between pin curls and rollers. My friend had naturally curly red hair, and her sister would call her "Spoolie" to get under her skin, ha ha.

I had really long hair as a teen (almost to my knees) and I used these on the ends. Kind of heavy because I had to use so many but turned out cute.

Yes , I do and I bet my mother has them somewhere. I saw the presentation on Evine and it brought me back to that time when life was easier.
