You don't wash your face for 30 days, and you don't apply any product or makeup during that month. Yes, it sounds gross, but supposedly your skin resets and balances itself. Has anyone tried it?

no way. If you have a gentle, effective cleanser that maintains the proper pH of your skin and doesn't strip it, you don't need to "reset" anything.

Wouldn't "resetting and balancing" be better accomplished by improving the food you eat? After all, the skin on your face and elsewhere does not exist in a vacuum. These bloggers seem to adhere to the outdated Cartesian theory of everything being separate from everything else. That was disproved a long time ago.

No, I haven't tried that, but I have gone from cleansing my face morning & night to just in the morning & that's working fine. By way of explanation, I always had very oily skin. The aging process has certainly changed things, & now I do get some dry patches & there's less oiliness. Cleansing once daily seems to be just right for me now.

I sometimes think people come up with stuff, circulate it on the Internet and get a thrill from seeing if anyone will glom onto it. Like those fake alerts about getting drugged by perfrume-spraying. Oooh! Someone took the bait!

I think face washing is a good thing. My late husband however did have some notion like this. I found some notes he'd collected about the skin making a natural barrier if you didn't shower too often. He didn't like showering or bathing. I used to roar with laughter along with his sister--we'd sing the Wicked Witch song from "Wizard of Oz" and then launch into "oh what a world, what a world" and re-enact the melting from the bucket of water scene.

I wash my face at night, put on skincare, and in the morning I just rinse and then apply my daytime skin care. Some days in the summer I wash both morning and night (or more often, depending what I'm doing and how gross and sweaty I get). In the winter, washing only at night definitely works well for me.

This is what I do as well because during the day our skin is exposed to dirt and grime, even from the air, and that dirt and grime gets caked onto our skin. Most of the times, in the morning, I simply use water and my muslin cloth, no facial cleanser. I've been doing this for at least a few years now and it works great for me.

I cleanse only at night and then alternate between my BHA or my Retin A. I am 50+ with very oily acne prone skin. I use an alcohol free toner in the am to remove anything left on my skin from the night before. I used to wash often thinking it would help the oil and acne but it didn't.

Yes this is a big misconception with more oily/acne prone skin- strip the skin using harsh astringents or wash more often, etc. But in reality, this can make it worse because it actually causes the skin to produce more oil. Glad you found a good balance for your skin!
