Anyone can sue anyone over anything they want -- PROVING their case is the tricky part.

Gotta love it when Chaz comes to town. The ad nauseum anti-Wen, anti-Chaz posts. For those who won't open the link, here is the portion of the story with the response from WEN. As millie said, now they have to prove their case.

"We take great pride in the quality of our products and believe every product meets our high standards. We want all of our customers to have positive experiences with our products.

With well over 10 million WEN products shipped since 2008, our customers’ overwhelmingly positive response to WEN is a testament to the benefits it can deliver for its users. These benefits are reflected in consistently high rankings from independent consumer product sites as well.

Importantly, there is no scientific evidence to support any claim that our hair care products caused anyone to lose their hair. There are many reasons why individuals may lose their hair, all unrelated to WEN hair products. We intend to vigorously contest the allegations made against our products. And, we encourage any customer with any questions to contact us."

@Buck-i-NanaThankls for the details. I stopped opening any links posted here a few years back because I got a virus from one, so now I open links only when I really, really, really know the sender.

As for the case itself. We'll just have to wait. I've seen these class action suits over and over because of my investment portfolio and they all hinge on exact proof. When it's a physical reaction thing like this one, I wouldn't be holding my breath expecting to get big money - assuming that's what the suers are after.

Maybe an interesting detail - in WEBMD's doctor's office magazine recently, I saw an article about cleansing conditioners talking about who they worked for and who they don't work for. Nothing at all was mentioned about any of them causing allergic reactions.

I know it totally made my hair dry and brittle, and it did start to fall out. I didn't keep using it. I can see how it could also coat plumbing and cause clogs.

I wish others on this board would understand that even though the product works well for their hair (which is great), for many others who've tried and hated it (me, included), the product is NOT what our hair needs, no matter what any sales/marketing dept. says. Simple as that. There is no product on the planet that works successfully for every human, and that's perfectly okay! I'm always puzzled why some people on these boards fight tooth and nail to convince others that they're "wrong" for not liking a product that they like. Truly odd.

There is no product on the planet that works successfully for every human, and that's perfectly okay! I'm always puzzled why some people on these boards fight tooth and nail to convince others that they're "wrong" for not liking a product that they like. Truly odd.

@AspenGrove I agree with you completely and I am a WEN user.

No product works for 100% of the people 100% of the time, and it's never wrong to respectfully disagree. Also, no one should ever be made to feel bad for not liking a particular product.

The only time I take exception is when the position is taken that a product is bad in general just because some may not like it, or may attribute it to issues that have not yet been substantiated in court. And therefore that product is bad for all people.

Strangely, these threads seem to be most popular or only posted when Chaz is making an appearance at Q. When he's not here....nothing. The timing is suspect, imo.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend! 😊

i know some of you keep saying the timing is "suspect" just because chaz is going to be on (and i had heard about the lawsuit previously), but it is a fact that our local news station was reporting on this story just the other day on air and on social media. posters are just not pulling this thing out of thin air. others have stated they saw news reports also in their areas.

there has been an update to the case. the judge has ordered a stay in the case and has sent them to mediation at this point. if they can work out an agreement then of course the case will not be triedi in court. it will be interesting to see what comes out of this lawsuit.

I started using it because I thought it would normalize my oily scalp but it never did. My scalp seemed to get oilier. I had more hair fallout while I used Wen but I have a lot of hair fall out when I use a conditioner. I don't blame it on it Wen. I blame mine on being hypothyroid, menopause & age. I started using a product for thinning hair & it dried out my scalp so much it started itching & flaking. I used head & shoulders which really seemed to help. I could not believe how soft it made my hair & I had no frizz. I only used a leave in conditoner after. I still like to use the Wen TT 1st, Pom 2nd cleanse. My hair looks good when I use that combo & my scalp feels cleans. I only use it once a week or so. For now I'm stuck dealing with my dry scalp. All these people in the suit probably have some type issue that's causing the hair fallout. I doubt they would be able to prove this in court.

Well I think people are legitimately losing hair over wen but also the majority are not losing their hair. I think its obvious that some people are allergic to something in wen. I do not think Chaz or GR should pay out money over this lawsuit but I feel there should be a warning message on the label.

I do not understand why it would take 6 months to start losing hair over wen? if something irritates your scalp I do not understand why the person would not stop useing it.

Here is the thing about lawsuits. They are expensive. Once the complaint is filed, its like a black hole that money gets tossed in.

Many people sue and file that complaint primarily so that they will 'settle' the lawsuit and get some money out of it. Many attorneys will look at how much money the defendant has and consider getting a 'cut' of the settlement rather than billing per hour.

WEN is a large, high profile company, whose product sales depend on good press and word of mouth recommendations, demos and so on. In other words, its an ideal 'target' for a law suit. Because WEN will want to settle it, rather than go to court and spend MORE money in court (it always costs way more to go through a trial than it does to settle.) The plaintiffs are depending on stirring up enough 'you know what' to disrupt WEN's business and make them concerned and more willing to settle. Why? Because I don't know how you could 'prove' that WEN causes 'hair loss.' To prove that, it would take extensive work, trials and money and the plaintiffs don't have that to invest (the attorneys would have to front it and really believe they could win one way or another.)

The plaintiffs want a settlement (money) and until they get it, they are gonna keep trying to disrupt his business. If there was a medical concern, the FDA or FTC or someone from the government would get involved in terms of false advertising or health claims. And if the plaintiff's stir up enough "you know what" they may try to or successfully draw in a government agency and may threaten it during settlement negotiations. (Although I don't think that would be to their financial advantage, but some attorneys are dumb as rocks.)

NOW. That does not mean you can't get an allergic reaction to WEN or any product. That doesn't mean WEN is good or bad. It is what it is: a legal battle.

And in today's world, good guys AND bad guys get sued every day, and it kinda sucks when you watch someone who is really good get ripped apart by a very tenacious and nasty plaintiff. I've seen it happen and it ridiculously sucks. But that's what the legal arena is, and bigger companies like WEN are hopefully aware that they open themselves up to law suits just by doing basic business in America. Open a store and there's a slip-lawsuit waiting to happen. Etc. Anyhow.
