Purity Made Simple question

Does it make you break out or make them worse?

I have used this on and off for years. I do like how it takes all of my makeup off and it's great for eyes(no burning). But it seems like when I use this for a few days, I start breaking out more. I don't know if it's the official culprit because it's summer and my skn gets oily, but I worry this might be contributing to my acne.

Does anyone think it causes breakouts?

I've used it for years and it doesn't make me break out. But everyone's skin is different. Also, if you haven't used it for a while and begin to use it again, your skin might be going through an initial "purge" which may taper off.

Just speaking for myself, I gave Philosophy skincare a good long try and it never gave me "makeup optional skin". On the contrary, I ended up with congested pores and milia. Getting off that stuff was my first step in the right direction.

I have also used Phil for years and didn't get that makeup optional result either. I've moved on.

It never removed make up completely for me either. Besides that, I couldn't handle the smell of it. I used to use many Philosophy products, I was a Philosophy girl, but now believe there are many others that surpass them.

No, but that doesn't mean it won't cause YOU to break out. It didn't cause breakouts for me, but everyone is different and I never expect that what works for me is going to work for everyone.

If you are using it off and on and only for a few days at a time, however, it becomes more difficult to determine if a product is causing problems. I've attributed breakouts to products and found out later it was a hormonal breakout. Now I pay attention to circumstances and repeat my use of a product and see if I get the same results under different circumstances before I decide it's the product that's the cause. Some products I've written off as causing breakouts or irritation have later turned out to be much loved products and others have been thrown in the trash because they've been proven to cause trouble.

I don't get magic from Purity, but I like it much better than I do any of the drugstore cleanser I've tried, so I end up going back to it. I just did that a few months ago with the huge bottles QVC was offering. Not much more per ounce than anything else and definitely better for me. It leaves my skin clearer and better hydrated.

But---different people have different skin and we each have to make our own choices. There's no beauty product nor any fashion product that is going to work for everyone.

As soon as I hear a sales clerk (or a vendor or a host) tell me "Everyone...." I know I'm not hearing the truth

Purity is the only philosophy product that I kept in my routine. I tried others and went back to it. It removes all of my makeup and my skin never feels tight afterwards. I don't notice that it makes me break out. I switched from philosophy to paula's choice for everything else and gave never been happier with my skin.

I tried Purity several years ago and was allergic to it. Within hours of using it, my face would break out in small, itchy red bumps, primarily along my jawline. I really wanted to like it, because I love a good all-in-one face cleanser that doesn't irritate my eyes (I wore contacts). I tried it on several different occasions (making sure that I wasn't using any other products that could be the culprit) and had the same results each time.

Like ChynnaBlue already stated, it's helpful to eliminate any other potential problems, and (if you really like the results), maybe give it another try in the future.

I've used Purity at least for 5 years and it doesn't irritate my skin, and leaves it soft and clean. Best facial cleanser for me by far.

I've used it for a very long time and like it a lot. I have sensitive skin, but have no problems with this. I order the big pump bottle and extra 8 oz. from the Nordies sale every year. Mine should be here in a day or two. I haven't liked the drugstore or dept. store ones any better either.

sherrilz, I found out during a period when I didn't use Purity, the first time in years when I didn't, that the skin and allergy issues I was having was not due to the serums and moisturizers I was using but to Purity Made Simple.

Somewhere along the line the formula changed. Where once I thought Purity the only cleanser worth having I've had to face a few simple facts:

The ingredient deck contains a horrorendous cast of irritants and bizarre, totally unnecessary ingredients . For more than 5 years I never paid attention. Read the back of the bottle, you'll be amazed.

Purity has an odd odor

Purity stings so badly my eyes burn, turn red and dry-eye is aggravated so that i tear all day long as though I were crying constantly.

My skin rebelled by pouring out oil, my pores gaped, and I developed small, hard, stubbornly persistent blemishes.

Purity-free, my prestige serums have no adverse effects at all. Complexion's clear, pores have diminished in diameter, my skin is no longer angry, oil production is at "normal" levels.

But..I reasoned: everybody else loves Purity, it doesn't burn their eyes. Look at the big ole jug you can get for only $55.00. It takes off all your makeup. Silly isn't it ? ( No longer in denial, I've finally replaced Purity with a truly gentle, nonirritating gel cleanser)

I would like to encourage you to objectively evaluate your own unique skin and its reaction, or no, to Purity.

That's where I get tempted. It does take off all of my makeup pretty well and it doesn't burn my eyes. But I do think I get more pimples from it. I get like a form of cystic acne when I use it. At least I think it's from this. I get tempted by the value sizes on QVC and the immediate results after I wash my face. But a day or two later, the pimples start. So I'm not sure if it causes it or if by not using my acne stuff, I get a flare up.

I tried this and I struck out. It left a film on my face and I subsequently broke out. I wouldn't suggest this for combination/oily skin. I ended up throwing the whole thing out.

I've been using Purity (off and on) for a number of years. It doesn't break me out or irritate my eyes, and it's the one product that truly delivers on it's promise of an all-in one makeup remover (even on waterproof mascara).

However, having said that - I don't think I will be repurchasing after my current 32oz runs out. In the last year or so, my skin has changed for no reason that I can discern. I now find Purity to be a tad on the drying side, and am exploring other options.

Purity breaks me out terribly. I'm okay for a couple of days, then the breakouts start. In my case I am sure the breakouts are a result of irritation. Purity contains a lot of potentially irritating ingredients.
