Need a replacement for Veena Velvet mineral foundation by Lumiere Cosmetics

I recently rediscovered this foundation in my stash and LOVE it...perfect texture, perfect color. Alas, in looking to reorder, I found out the company is out of business. Are there any other similar mineral foundations out there? I don't care for Bare Minerals.

I was sorry to see Lumiere closed too. I didn't use her foundation but there was one brown eyeshadow I wanted to reorder. I did try Veena Velvet way back when and remember I loved the look and the feel but after 3 days it broke me out so I had to discontinue use.

I do have have experience with other indy lines in mineral foundation though. My 2 favorites are Cory Cosmetics and Meow Cosmetics. Like Lumiere they both offer more than one formula choice. I'm sorry I can't offer advice as to which is most like Lumiere Veena Velvet. But you can order samples baggies from both companies. I've been ordering from both these companies for 6 or 7 years.

Silk Naturals is a wonderful company too. I love her finishing powders and eye shadows but I haven't tried her foundation.

Lucy Minerals had quite a bit of buzz around here too. Several posters love her foundation.

I'm another one who loved Lumiere's foundations. I had to stop using BE due to itching and then tried Physician's Formula, then Pur Cosmetics, and then started checking out smaller companies and caught Lumiere right when she was having a sale of her previous company and came out with Lumiere. I was able to use Veena Velvet and the other first one she came out with for dryer skin and had no probiem with either looking cakey on me. I wish she'd been able to keep the company open! Out of the types of minerals I tried, I did like Pur Cosmetics, but it doesn't have the choices these smaller companies do in foundation colors. I fall between light and medium so my choice was buying a split pan and the medium didn't match my skin tone. I've tried other powder foundations, but as for minerals only, these are the only ones I used long enough to comment. Oh, I was given Sheer Cover by someone but wasn't too impressed. I have a tough skin tone to match.

I know a lot of people who quit BE went to Everyday Minerals. I second Meow as they have nice foundations and beautiful colors in shadows and blush, plus their selection's amazing. I think it would be impossible to NOT find a match to your skin t ype! Ms. Sweetie Bear named the same I will so best of luck and let us know if you find a winner!

PS to Katmary: I'm in the same boat color-wise...my Veena Velvet color is light medium cool...PERFECT match.

I too was soooo bummed when I found out Lumiere closed. I loved the Cashmere foundation. Fortunately I got 2 jars right before they closed.

I don't think anyone makes anything like Veena Velvet, since it had the oats in it. My second favorite is Meow cosmetics in Flawless Feline, it's the closest to Cashmere formula-wise, and I used it before I found Lumiere. You might like Pampered Puss formula at Meow, with the Zinc in it. Flawless Feline has Boron Nitride (which works well for me) and Purr-fect Puss has just mica, Titanium Dioxide and iron oxides for colorants. Pampered Puss has those ingredients plus zinc. All 3 are good foundations, get at least one sample in each formula so you can wear it for a day and see the different coverages and if they are irritating for you.

I also want to add that they are a great mineral foundation value-wise, you get 22-30 grams (I am pretty sure I have always gotten at least 30 grams) and compare that to Bare Minerals which is 8 grams per jar. Price at Meow is around $30 for Perfect and Pampered Puss, Flawless Feline is about $9 more. Still, that is the same as 5 jars of Bare Minerals, so one Meow jar will last you forever, plus they often have sales. Be sure to sign up for their mailing list. They do take a bit of time to ship out, especially during sales. That is the one downside, as it can take 3-4 weeks to get your order.

I know how you feel! I loved the Cashmere foundation and panicked when I found out she closed shop and I couldn't get any more. I dreaded the process of ordering samples and going through the whole process of finding the right formulation and color again. I remember trying Everyday Minerals and not really having much luck. There was another brand I tried, can't remember which though. JLynne maybe? I wore Jane Iredale for awhile before I found Lumiere. BE was awful on me...

I was ready to order some samples from Meow and Alima when I saw an It Cosmetics presentation. I decided I didn't have anything to lose so I ordered the Celebration Foundation to try and now I'm hooked. Gives me great coverage, doesn't break me out, and is less messy. Been using it for a year or so now. I highly recommend trying it.

I love Meow Cosmetics. I use the Pampered Puss formula and love the finishing powder, which only has two ingredients--silk powder and boron nitride. I had ordered samples of 8 different colors/formulas and found a perfect match. My orders arrive much quicker than 3-4 weeks, but I'm only one state away.
