Can't remember where I found the Jewish thread discussing recipes. So I'm just starting this to wish everyone who this applies to a great Passover Seder and week. This will be the first holiday without my mom, so my sister and I have been crying. Luckily, her husband has a big family.

Happy Passover, kutira, to you and your family! I am sorry for the loss of your wonderful mom, and it's my feeling that she is smiling in heaven as she sees you carry on the seder tradition and its special foods. May you and your sister lean on each other and find joy in your shared memories.

Warmly,

AmazingGrace2

Happy Passover. So sorry about your loss. Keeping your Mom in your heart and staying close to your sister should give you some comfort. Your Mom would probably want that.

I'm dealing with the same loss. My mom died on Tu B'Shevat. Purim has passed without her, and now Pesach. I completely understand. We've been invited to Seders both nights; I am skipping the Shabbat Seder, but accepted the Havdalah Seder on Saturday.

Kutira, I am so sorry for your loss. It is still fresh but she will be in your heart forever. When my mother died 10 years ago, I thought the tears would never stop and I missed her so much. Now I still miss her but the pain is not as strong.

Happy Pesach to you and your family. However, I have never heard this word before, could someone please explain to me what this means?

Holidays are the hardest part when you have lost a loved one. On the first Mother's Day after mine had died, I bought a card and flowers anyway, in her memory, and placed them next to my bed. It's ok to cry. It's a testament to how much you loved her.

Oh my goodness! I just looked Pesach online and learned a lot. It sounds like a very moving and emotional celebration that is very complex. I have never heard of the Feast of the Firstborn. Is this a tradition that most Jewish people celebrate and look forward to? Even cleaning the kitchen so thoroughly sounds like a lot of work! I did not know that Pesach is another word for Passover.

Peace and blessings to all of you.
