Chemical only. The older I get, the pinker I am from broken capillaries. Manual exfoliation breaks my capillaries even if I am careful.

I gently swipe on an AHA/BHA toner called Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner almost every day using a cotton round and I get excellent results.

Thank you for all of your wise and wonderful answers on the different products you use for exfoliation. Overall, which do you think provides the best results...a chemical or manual exfoliation?

I like Stridex alcohol free 2% salicylic acid pads to use for a chemical peel as they are cheap (about $5 dollars for 70 pads or so) but I have noticed that after menopause that my t zone can get flakey and it's noticeable under a 10X magnifying mirror so I do a mechanical peel with a small synthetic pumice brick to get rid of the flakes between and around my brows and on the skin on the sides of my nose. The synthetic pumice brick is from Bed, Bath, and Beyond and it's about $5 and I use a bread knife to cut it into a smaller piece to use on my face. I don't scrub really hard, I just go over the areas needed and then wash my face.

I personally prefer AHAs or BHAs on a regular basis. I also use enzyme peels for special occasions.

I prefer chemical as a rule. A lot of manual exfoliation tends to rough my skin too much.

Chemical for me as well. If I do use any kind of manual, it would be a combo of manual/chemical such as Ole Henrickson's 3 step peel. The manual part of his is very gentle which is why I tried it initially. I do like it but once I finish it up, I will probably not reorder and stick with just chemical.

I did pick up a Konjac months ago but have not tried it - have mixed feelings about using it. I do notice however that when I am using any serums for age spots, brightening, etc. I often won't really see the dramatic results as much until I do use some kind of manual.

Am just not a fan of manuals overall as I think they can be too harsh on maturing skin. But I know opinions and preferences really vary on this topic.
