Highlighters

I've never tried using a highlighter, but I would like to experiment to see if I like it.

I'd like to get a fairly inexpensive one that doesn't have any glitter or shine (a little sheen is ok) and one that will minimize fine lines and pores. Am I asking too much? Any suggestions??

The purpose of a highlighter is to brighten and add a little glow to certain areas on your face. It can also be used with a contour to narrow or redefine certain areas, like slimming a nose for instance. It's not a product that's used to minimize fine lines and pores. Many, if not most, highlighters have a certain amount of shimmer to them but Mally makes an undereye brightener that is shimmer free. It looks like mustard in the little jar and you only need a pin head amount and then tap it on. If you want to try a legit highlighter that's inexpensive, Ulta makes one in their house brand of foundations/makeup. It's similar to Tarte's but far less expensive.

Although this isn't the cheapest I've seen, if you figure in the price of the brush - this is very nicely priced. It's the IT brand highlighter A226174. I have used A LOT of different highlighters and this one so nicely highlights your cheekbones without adding any glitter or making you look too shimmery. I will never be without it and although I use it every day over my blush, I think it will literally last forever. I haven't even begun to make a dent in it!

Hands down the best is Laura Geller baked highlighter in French vanilla.....no glitter or sparkles but it really opens up the eyes; I put it on the inside corner of my eyes and the outside corner as well and under the lower lashline. The small compact lasts a long time( unless you drop it on a tile floor and smash it to pieces like I did) but I am still using it....I put it on with my fingertip; better than a brush.

If you want to try one with click pen type delivery, Boots No 7 makes a good highliter. Available at Target for about $12. Limited shades but works well.

The HG of click pen highlighters is LTE. Around $42, they've expanded their shades and it's always a winner. If you want to try a sample look around on the bay. You might luck out with a trial/travel size for cheap.

I think I'll take a run to Target and Ulta this weekend and take a look at your suggestions. The IT highlighter looks nice kahootz, as does the Laura Geller and Boots. Thanks lovesrecess and Snowpuppy!

I have fair colored skin so I guess I would need a really light highlighter.

NARS ""Albatross"" is one of the original and best highlighters out there.

An easy, inexpensive product to try is Maybelline Age Rewind in Radiant. I abhor glitter/frost, etc., and even those products that people claim "no glitter" -- I'm seeing glitter! So this really doesn't, I promise.

I used to use YSL Touche Eclat and I grabbed the Maybelline until I could pick up a new TE -- and I've been using the Maybelline ever since.

I use it for highlighter under my brows, to brighten the dark inner corners of my eyes, on my cheekbones, in the "triangle of light" and down the center of my nose. The triangle of light, more than anything, gives me a really pretty glow (as I'm sure it would with any good product).

Just pick some at the drugstore and play around with it . :-)

ETA: It comes in a little bottle/tube with a sponge-tip applicator -- really easy to apply.

ETA again -- the shade I gave is wrong (doesn't exist!) It's actually called Brightener. I'd post a pic but I can't seem to figure out how to do it with my iPad.

Hi, AnnMarie ~ I just looked it up it's Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Eraser (smaller than the foundation) and I was wrong about the shade -- it's called "Brightener". It's not the texture or consistency of a concealer, though. It's really sheer -- I call it the poor man's Touche Eclat, if you're familar with how that looks/feels.
