Anyone had their color IQ done at Sephora?

Is this for the foundation shades? If so, for me, it was a disaster. The first time it came out with dark brown shades. The guy doing it laughed and said that even he doesn't wear that dark of shade and he was darker skinned. They tried it a few more times and each time got different results. The final time was the closest to what I really wear but it only gave one result at Sephora, which is funny because Sephora carries hundreds of foundations so only to be matched with one, literally one, was just funny, especially since I've worn several of the foundations there over time and all were great matches.

Anyway, I don't know what the issue was (neither did they and they had three people doing it on me) but it was worthless for me. I am much better at picking out my correct shade than that thing was. Several of my friends have had it done and I think only one actually found it to work well for her. Nice idea but terrible execution.

Years ago at the last Beauty Bash (oh how I miss them!), a lady from Philosophy was trying to match one of their foundations on me....she finally gave up and said that sadly, there was not one that she could recommend from their line. She was confident that as it expanded in foundations, one would work.

I never did find one from Philosophy.

I didn't know philosophy ever sold foundation. I wonder what happened with that? Anyway, this is some device that they hold up to your skin in a few places and it assigns you a number which you can use with their color matrix to find what brands have the right shade for you and what that shade is in their brand.

Yes, I've had it done and it was accurate. I found out that not all SAs at Sephora are trained to use the device properly. Also, it must be done in an area of the store with bright lighting and they need to choose an area of the face with no freckles or dark spots (the machine will read the darker pigment and match your foundation to it).

Mine was great. I got a lot of recommendations I could access online, and I went home with a new foundation I liked!

I guess it's a good thing I don't have many freckles on my face, unlike my mom. That makes sense though that it would read them.

I had it done three weeks ago and it was horrible. I kept telling the consultant that what " it" said was way to light and much too yellow. After caving in, I bought the Dior liquid foundation, brought it home tried it the next morning and I was right I was soooo yellow I looked liked I had an illness! I quickly returned it for a refund.

Had it done a year or two ago at the Las Vegas store by the Venetian. I got some samples from the list to try and when I got home, I got a few more samples. I never buy foundation without getting a sample and trying it out. Ended up with getting two Lancome foundations which I still use and like. Agree that the SA's for Sephora are hit and miss. The one the tested me knew what he was doing.

Not accurate at all...better to just try and test, get a sample and bring it home...
