Is it possible to WEN without scalp massage?

I learned yesterday that my hair is going through a Telogen Effluvium stage (tons of hair shedding) that could last months. The doctor even said it could result in up to a 50% hair loss. Anyway I was researching it online I came across a site that said to avoid overly vigorous combing and brush and to avoid any type of scalp massage. So I was wondering is it possible to use WEN without the scalp massage and get beautiful hair?

I didn't really do a scalp massage with WEN, I just did what I normally do with shampoo. What do you mean by scalp massage? Scrubbing your scalp?

I think it depends on how thick your hair is and how long it is. If I didn't massage well and comb, it would never get down to my scalp to get it clean. I've actually learned this the hard way.

I don't know if this helps but I massage my scalp with WEN in a thorough but relaxing way. In other words I don't 'scrub' my scalp (that sounds a bit aggressive). I then use a wide tooth comb to pull the CC through my hair.

Gentle, thorough massage, yes. Scrubbing scalp, no. My results are great this way.

I don't think you would ever really 'scrub' your scalp. Chaz advises to be very gentle ""healthy scalp promotes healthy hair""- his mantra.

Yes, that is what I mean...really scrubbing it.

I don't really believe in really scrubbing the scalp. You can actually cause more issues that way. I would recommend only using your finger pads and gently massaging it in, like another poster indicated. It is much more gentle and yet still provides the scalp with stimulation. I've had scalp massages done in conjunction with my full body massages and they never ever scrub.

I do use my finger pads but I am vigorously scrubbing with my finger pads to work it in. So I guess I will continue to use the finger pads but calm down a little about it.

My philosophy is to do as much as it takes to get my hair clean, but no more. I wouldn't scrub either. My aunt used to have one of those scalp massage brushes. I certainly wouldn't use that.
