I loved the movie,as I said somewhere else, yes it was long, boring at times, and I was waiting for the usual tragedy that happens in most films. Isn't this what life is all about? We all go through these emotions,if we are lucky we won't have a tragedy to deal with,that is why I loved this movie its real life,if there had been a tragedy during the twelve years it was made I think the writer would have put it in,this movie is a good one for all people with familys to see.Tucka.

I loved the movie. I did think it was a little long, but I didn't get bored. Like tucka, I kept waiting for a tragedy to happen. I thought someone might have a wreck or something, but I'm glad nothing like that happened. I thought it was really interesting seeing them all age 12 years. Patricia Arquette looked great through the whole movie.

I liked it, didn't love it. I enjoyed watching the DVD on a dreary, cold afternoon. Patricia A was wonderful and beautiful. Birdman is my pick for best picture. Innaritu can do no wrong in my book!

It's on my list to see. I thought it had just come out and tried to see it at a theater last weekend. I couldn't believe it was not at our local theaters. (Then I heard it was already out on DVD). One I didn't care for that everyone else seemed to like was Gone Girl. Loved the book.

I haven't seen it and I've pretty much decided that I'll wait until it comes on cable. The people I know who saw it, thought it was too long and dull.

I was looking forward to watching it On Demand, but I never really feel like sitting and committing to that big of a block of time. Also, a co-worker said she wasn't thrilled with it. Love the concept though.

I liked it. I thought patricia A. was amazing, especially the scene where the son is leaving for college.

Isn't a divorce a tragedy? I could barely move for 3 years after mediocre, bone crushing sadness and betrayal and my son was utterly devasted and his heart was broken.

Our family liked it, but thought it was too long. Nothing much really happened. Patricia and Ethan were good, though.

Let's face it, if it wasn't for the fact that it was filmed over 12 years, I don't think it would have gotten much attention. I think it got the nominations it did more due to the achievement and novelty of filming the same people over the course of so many years, not because it was such a great film.

Exactly, well said! I thought it was ingenious having the same actors over the 12 year period. Linklater should have gotten best director!

People's taste in movies is very varied........but for me personally, I didn't like Boyhood, Birdman, Whiplash or the Imitation Game. As for the others (Grand Budapest Hotel, Selma, American Sniper and Theory of Everything).......I haven't seen them.

I agree! Movies are so subjective! There has been many a time we recommended a movie we all loved (we love movies in our family) only to be told, much to our surprise, that they hated it! Not just didn't like it, but hated it.

My son loved Birdman and Whiplash, I didn't see either. We all thought the Imitation Game was great! My son also loved Gran Budapest Hotel and American Sniper (I didn't see either). We all liked Selma and thought The Theory Of Everything was very good. So thrilled for Eddie Redmayne. He literally transformed himself for that film.

I did see it and found it just, o k. What I did find interesting was Ethan Hawke's reference to it as being a story about 'middle class america'. I didn't walk away from it thinking that.

I really like Ethan H. He seems super genuine, unassuming and down to earth. I loved his interview on the red carpet. The movie was ok.

I hear you Donna....I have a son too...same thing. I can't see movies that depress me.
