Essential Oils

Does anyone have any suggestions on two things: 1. A quality place to purchase essential oils (looking for lavender and tea tree)? 2. How not to get your posts poofed? The last three or so times I have posted, it has been poofed within minutes. My most recent previous post was re: the availability of an isomers bb cream DUO. Love the stuff!

Here goes nothing!

Sorry, I don't have an answer for your second question. There doesn't seem to be such a thing as a poof-proof post on these boards. Those that should go don't and others that are rather benign get zapped.

I'm relatively new to essential oils, I've been using them for about 6 months. I did a great deal of research before buying and tried a few companies essential oils.

I use Native Americans Nutritionals essential oils. Please check out their website, there is a great deal of information from them about their oils as well as customer reviews. They offer 3 basic kits for those new to essential oils.

She did a 7 or 8 part blog about different essential oil companies with explanations why she didn't chose certain companies. She also uses Native American Nutritionals, I had already been using them prior to reading her website. She just confirmed I made the right decision for me.

I purchase my everyday oils at TJ MAXX and Marshalls. Between 8.00 & 10.00 each. I order my specialty oils from do terra.

Whole Foods has a nice selection of essential oils. I am considering making a room fresher consisting of witch hazel and a few drops of lavender oil and sprit zing it throughout the home.

I like iherb.com for essential oils. Garden of Wisdom is nice too but they don't use droppers in their bottles (I like the droppers because when you turn the bottle over you get a drop of oil at a time). iherb.com has both tea tree & lavender oil. Free Shpg. at $20

Hi Reever, now, nature's alchemy & aura cacia -- all three of these have droppers and are very good brands. I burn a lot of oils and these oils work well. I also will be making a room spray with essential oils, spring water & glycerin.

If you have a health food store in your area, you could also check there. They might have testers there, where you can actually smell the oils and see if you like them, as they tend to be quite concentrated.

Essential Wholesale (Oregon) or Camden-Grey (Florida). Both have high quality oils and very reasonable prices. Both can be a tad slow to ship. Worth the wait, IMO.

Thanks for sharing that. I read through quite a bit of her posts. Wow, who knew such controversy over oils! I learned a thing or two as well.

I really agree with this! I'm just learning and I do have a local herbalist who carries a wide variety.

Ask for advice and pic up a book or pamphlet on them. Highly concentrated quality oils can be pricey. You want to understand what you're purchasing and the purpose of the oil.

If you just want a few drops to diffuse for a little fragrance then less expensive oils should do.

I just ordered from Garden of Wisdom. Marula and Rose Hip Seed oils. They do carry the glass bottles with droppers which you can order separately. Type in ""glass bottles"" in the search box and a page comes up with a list of different sizes of bottles with droppers.

Thanks, SnowPuppy. You also had good ideas in your post, about using the less expensive oils if you are just going to use them for fragrance.

That is what I do, as I just use them for aromatherapy right now. I go to our local health food store for the oils that I like. I can test them out there.

When I first started out, I had to get used to the oils in their most concentrated form. They are very beautiful, but I forgot how different they are in this form. They tend to smell more "earthy" or more "herbal" this way, in my opinion.

I think that we get used to them in their "perfumed form" when we buy them that way, when they already come mixed in the forms of shower gels, colognes, etc.

I haven't started mixing them yet to be used on the skin. Like you, I haven't been in this field for too long, but I find it very fascinating.
