You may want to try cuticle remover. Deborah Lippmann is my favorite but there's many out there. I also like Poshe cuticle treatment.

Does anyone remember a presentation for a manicure tool that had two different heads on it, one for addressing cuticles - I ordered it and then canceled thinking I would order it in the future and now I can't find it. This was at least a few months ago if not longer. What products are good for cuticles - mine are so dry and products are not helping much. Thanks.

DEB

I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about. But if you ordered it and then canceled it, it should show up in your order history.

I recommend Blue Cross Cuticle Remover (Sally Beauty Supply) or Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover to soften cuticles and an orangewood stick to push them back. You can use a metal cuticle pusher with curved spoon at the end, but it's easier to damage your nail with the metal tools. They also make plastic cuticle pushers with a rubber tip.

Keep in mind that "cuticle remover" is used to remove the TRUE cuticle and not the eponychium, which you want to gently push back and not remove. (Here's a video to explain the difference and why it matters: http://www.nailsmag.com/blogpost/106012/do-you-know-what-the-true-cuticle-is) This article is helpful: http://www.hooked-on-nails.com/naturalnails.html.

Once you've used a remover and gently pushed cuticles back, use an exfoliating hand cream (AmLactin, O'Keefe's Working Hands) to maintain and use the remover one to 4 times a month, as needed. Keep some nail oil (jojoba oil, sweeet almond oil, avocado oil, etc) on hand and use the oil and a good moisturizer regularly.

RachB - I'm not sure exactly what it is called. I looked in my order history and didn't see it but thought maybe it didn't show up because the product was no longer available. It was a tool - not sure if it ran on batteries or was electric. It had two different attachments for the nails/cuticles.

ChynnaBlue - thanks for that great video/article link. That was very helpful.

Snow Owl - thank for your recommendations.

I think I have some of the Blue Cross cuticle remover and I will also check out everyone's recommendations. Thanks so much for your help.

DEB

I find Blue Cross to be way too abrasive on my nails. I really like Butter London Cuticle Eliminator. It's much more expensive, but much gentler.
