Argan Oil ~ What Am I Doing Wrong ~

Last month I went Argon Oil (Josie's). I like to try one new thing at a time, and give it several weeks, so I can really get a sense if it is working or me. I went with this Oil, the whipped butters, the milk.....The first few weeks everything was going great. Now, my skin is so dry (my face)! What, if anything, am I doing wrong? Has anyone else had this experience with oils? Thank You.

Keep in mind that not everything works for everybody. You may not be doing anything wrong. I find that Josie's hand cream and body butter work well on my body but her products make my face drier.

Sometimes oils just don't absorb into dry skin. It seems counterintuitive but I've experienced it quite a bit.

I would not think it is the oil but rather one of the other products with an ingredient that does not agree with you. If your skin is dry, Marula oil has more antioxidants than argan. It is my oil of choice. My skin in NEVER dry even during the winter cold months. It's soft, hydrated, diminished the look of fine fines and I can't say enough about this oil. I use acure organics marula oil under $20.

where do you get yours?

All oils take the skin out of balance and make it dry, they make your skin oily, not moist.

If you are putting it on your eyes you could end up with milia and puffy undereyes.

P.S. I just looked up the ingredients of the argan milk. It has sodium benzoate, a chemical, which has side effects one of which is dryness. Interesting find as Josie talks about petroleum jelly being bad and she is using chemicals in some of her products.

I tried her latest TSV and the oil did nothing for me. Didn't make it drier but it didn't make it feel moisturized either. I sent the whole kit back. It was my first time trying it. Not trying any more beauty products. Tired off return fees. I am just going to stick with what I usually use.

Does Acure's Marula oil have a scent? I bought Acure's Argan oil and it smelled horrific, and then I read reviews that compared its odor to a barnyard.

Same thing happens to me and I break out no matter what. Oils just do not agree with my skin. I am using cerave hydrating cleanser and their lotion on my face with Philosophy's microdelivery in the morning and am doing good so far. Same thing was happening with PC. I loved it but then starting getting pimples and milia. I try to stay away from animal testing and parabens but not all natural works for everyone. Good luck.

I was always told that most people are lacking moisture (water) not oil, and for oil to stay on long enough to do any good that you need to put a moisture lotion on top. I alternate nighttime products (exfoliants, etc.) and use an oil about every 3 nights but always apply a moisture lotion on top. I have dry skin and it works for me.

I use oil on my hair as well, but Josie's argon oil is too heavy for that. I use Organix Argon Oil which is also much less expensive. It helps with the frizzies and fly-away of my fine and dry hair.

I use JM's argan oil as more of a serum, and use moisturizer over it. I can't use it alone otherwise my face is too dry also.

I'm going to try the Acure Marula Oil and hope it helps my dry skin. I still get occasional breakouts, but my skin is just parched in the winter, and you can especially see it under my eyes . I hope it helps.

Mistic, the exact same thing happened with me. Initially I thought the oils (I tried both the regular and light and also the milk) were making my skin look better and I was so excited because I love the thought of using natural oils, but about a week into it I started seeing wrinkles I didn't see before. After about a week and a half my face looked like a prune! I had wrinkles running down my cheeks that weren't there before. It was like looking in the mirror and seeing myself in 20 years. It broke my heart because I wanted so badly to go argan-only and get rid of my other skin care products, but sadly argan just doesn't work for my face. I went back to my Philosophy products and after several days my skin bounced back and those bizarre wrinkles are gone. I have Josie's hand cream and body butter and they seem to work for me. I love Josie and I really want to use her products but it looks like I'm stuck with the lotions only, not the straight-up oil. I'm envious of the people who are able to only use argan on their face and get great results!
