Not happy with how the company chose to redo the Great Lash mascara that I used for who knows how long. So I'm going to see what I can find around here. Why do they have to change a good thing? I asked for ideas eons ago on here but I'm not going to today.

I know someone else asked awhile back too. I'm just going to try on my own until I find a good replacement. It's no wonder companies lose a good customer when they change a tried and true product. I know a lot of other women liked it too.

Have you had something change that you used for a long time too? A beauty product?

Am I missing something? I am not aware of Maybelline changing anything about Great Lash mascara. ?????

I didn't know that Great Lash was changed either; however I found NYC City Curls is just as good and probably cheaper.

Yes! There are probably many favorites that have changed or have been discontinued. I was so upset when Max Factor was discontinued. Loved their Stretch and also Stretch and Separate mascaras. I still bemoan the fact that Clairol discontinued Herbal Essences Color Me Happy 2-in-1 shampoo! The separate version of that shampoo has changed--smells different, too.

About the mascaras...I know you said you weren't going to ask for suggestions (and, yes, there are threads on this subject).

A few I have liked recently are:

Cover Girl Lashblast Length

Almay One Coat Thickening Mascara. I tried this one day when I was almost out of mascara and I happened to be in BJ's and they had a package of 2 for $7.99. Great deal...great mascara.

L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara (want to try the Intenza version next).

Thanks, I'll look. Yes, GL, changed the container and I don't like the brush with it now.

Jordana mascara in the black tube with purple lettering. I was told by one rep at the company that it had changed and then another told me it had not. All I know is I used to use and love this mascara and now I can't use it anymore. I detest it.

I have never gotten over the discontinuance of an Estee Lauder foundation I used. It was a creamy powder that came in a rectangle case. It had a cool feeling and creamier than a typical powder but it wasn't a cream foundation.

I discovered my holy grail hairspray when it was already on clearance because it was being discontinued. It was Dove Pro-Age hairspray.

And the worst of all, my holy grail self-tanner from Avon. It was the Skin-So-Soft spray on self-tanner. I bought what I could get my hands on when I found out it was going. Periodically I e-mail Avon begging them to bring it back to no avail.

I've Loved Dermstore Lip Quench. My favorite Holy Grail lip product. Then they decided to ""REFORMULATE IT"" its horrible and the sad part is they still call it the original.

I am a mascara junkie and I've tried many kinds...one of my favorite is Maybelline Big Eyes. It had two brushes. ..one for upper and one for lower lashes. No clumping and my lashes look tons longer and thicker.

Since forever (I'm a child of the 60's) I've only ever used Maybelline Waterproof mascara.

oh man I had a dozen of those at one time. They kept sending me them free in every order.I thought I donated all of them to the women's shelter and just came across a few more (unused, I don't like the product personally). When did they reformulate it? Maybe I should sell the HG original on Ebay, maybe they will bring in alot of money.

Yes, the ojon restorative treatment. That stuff was amazing. Then they reformulated it. It never was the same.

I was never a fan of Maybelline Great Lash. Okay maybe once 35 years ago. I think there are so many much better now both my Maybelline and other brands.

My current favorite is by coincidentally also by Maybelline. It's called Rocket Volume Express. It comes in both regular and water proof. I use the regular. I find it a little more difficult to remove than some other favorites and so the water proof must be really tough.

Anyway, that's my best rec for now. My previous favorite was by Cover Girl and has been discontinued - Cover Girl Lash Exact.

I tried and didn't like Great Lash. I had trouble applying it. If I remember correctly, I think the brush was a bit big and round, and it just went on too thick everytime I tried to apply. I prefer a natural look. My favorite is Almay Triple Effect. I always go back to it no matter what other brand I try.

Great Lash in the pink tube with the green wand handle? I thought they had different configurations, but as far as the original (which has the small or average sized brush that gets wider at the base), I don't recall it changing. I've only used it twice in my lifetime and preferred it for low-key days when I just wanted to add something to my eyes without doing too much. My faves currently are Lash Accelerator from Rimmel and Better than S-- from Too Faced. The latter is a tad expensive, but I found a dupe for it, also from Rimmel, called Retro Glam. It gives me the same fanned out, lush lashes when I want a bit of drama.

I was a Jordana Best Lash Extreme (black tube w/purple lettering) for quite awhile, but still experimented with other brands. I tried Laura Geller, Peter Thomas Roth, Mally, Tarte, and a few drugstore brands and none of them seemed head and shoulders above the Jordana, to justify the cost, except for the Physicians Formula Eye Booster Instant Lash Extensions kit. I like both of them and use both.

My favorite mascara is Younique's 3D Fiber lash. I was hesitant to try is at first but it's amazing! It's all natural and the fibers are made of green tea. It's also hypoallergenic!

I don't like it either. I recently bought it thinking that surely as long as it has been around it might be good. The pkg came with two tubes - will have to just throw them away. In addition to doing nothing with regard to length or volume it was messy!
