oil dropper falling apart...

ok...I know this has been brought up before but I can't find the post! I have (2) 1 oz oils that the rubber ring on the underneath of the lid has basically disintegrate and the glass dropper part fell completely out. I can't even close the bottles now because the top part came completely off when the ring fell apart.! What did you all do to prevent this from happening or were you able to? The bottles aren't old and they are about 1/2 full. Happened with a pom and a tt. Any fixes or tricks on how I can still use the oils without having to wait until another one of my bottles is empty so I can pour it into another one?

I had thought about that but I don't have a prime account and the shipping would probably cost more than the bottles.

one more question...I have in the past purchased a set of (3) 1 oz oils in different scents. I assume this is not offered any longer as I can't find it. Does anyone know if this set will be coming back? I really liked these little 1 oz bottles in the sets.

I don't know but I had a couple that did that and I actually threw them out because the rubber had disintegrated and I was worried it had disintegrated into the oil! I didn't want to take the risk. I've never had that happen before with other brands of oil. Very strange!

Your local drugstore probably carries eye droppers - at least mine does.

You can get them on EBay. A set of 6 glass dropper bottles in a 1/2 oz or 1 oz size for around $7 or a little less with free shipping. They have amber, blue, green, clear. I would not buy the clear. I have some of the 1 oz. Guess I should order a set of 6 of the 1/2 oz so when my small Wen oil bottles disintegrate I will have the small ones to put them in. So far have not had a problem with them. Wonder which oil in them is causing the reaction to the rubber/plastic?

You can also call the #800 for Chaz's company and see if they will send you the droppers. They are good about replacing pumps, so I don't see why they couldn't replace droppers, too.

This happened to my lavender oil. I just re-bottled it but I'm curious about why this would happen. Would any oil break down rubber or some ingredient in these oils?

Love the products but not the delivery systems/packaging.

You can get new bottles with droppers at a variety of places, the local natural foods store, hardware store, some independent drug stores ect.

I asked my pharmacist to sell me a few glass bottles which he did. The bottles are a good size and brown glass.

I went looking yesterday and of the 2 drug stores we have (one being the pharmacy at Wal-Mart) neither had anything that would work...nothing with a dropper anyway. I did get the pharmacist at CVS to sell me one, but it's a huge dropper and won't fit in the oil bottle. We don't have a Whole Foods anywhere near here that I'm aware of and the closest natural food store is over an hour away...I live in the boonies...I have to drive 20 minutes just to get to a Wal-mart! I ended up sending an email with picture of the piece to customerservice@chazdean.com and they are going to send me a new one.

I'm in the boonies too, which is why I have Amazon Prime. But we still have a few locations where I can get bottles with lids. I'd never look for just the lid, they aren't normally sold separately and there are different lids to fit the different bottles.

I did not think anything about the oils, RTM etc being in plastic bottles. Handy that way you don't have to worry breaking them. I think these essential oils really should be in glass bottles. I'm going to order the 1/2 oz dropper bottles & glass bottles with the sprayer top from EBay to my Wen in.

Thanks to this post Simolie I remembered I had a trio of oils stashed away and my toos are shot, tonight I will be transferring into my glass bottles.

Thankfully, this has never happened to me. It sounds like many have experienced similar problems though. I would definitely be upset if this happened.

The essential oils in WEN degrade the rubber. That is why pure essential oils are sold in glass, not plastic bottles. It happened to my bottles that were stored on their sides while I was traveling. It has not happened to any bottles that have always been upright.

This happens with any oils. You can easily buy a bottle & dropper.
