I worked in an office where one of our clerks sold Mary Kay. She tried to get me involved. I had tried some MK products a few years before and had a nasty allergic reaction to them. I told her this and she insisted that they had changed the formulation and that I should try them. I refused. She never took either the hint or a straight out ""no.""

About 6 months later I got a promotion to another building. I had been there a long time and knew a lot of people and had friends that I still see. They had a goodbye party for me and the MK rep volunteered to get the gift. I found out later that they collected over $300. She bought MK products from herself and gave them to me - despite my allergy. My friends were so angry with her. I never said anything but thank you and wrote everyone a nice thank you card. I gave the stuff to Goodwill.

I was wondering if anyone here is a Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay? I attended a "Party" for my cousin the other night and the Mary Kay lady has been bugging me to sign up. I did buy a few things to help my cousin out but this woman is a bit of a stalker.

To be honest with you anytime I need something from Mary Kay I just go to Ebay. I don't want to be stalked about becoming a consultant yet I do like the product. Sometimes I felt as though I was bothering them with my small purchases ( a cleanser here or a lipgloss here). So Ebay is where I go. Or to help your cousin you can go to the consultant's website and put in your cousin's ""party"" code to help her in any gifts she would get.

It's a great company. My mom put my sister through college with the money she made. She never became a director, but had a lot of repeat customers. You will hear negative things from other women, but I would listen to the positive and give it a try. If it doesn't work for you, you can send any product that you have for a refund. You have nothing to lose. My mom wasn't a "stalker" but she brought women into this company who retired from the company making a lot of money.

My daughter is M.K. Rep-- She enjoys it very much. I know when I first started using MK I had to be firm with some of the consultants.

Yes you can buy M.K. product on Ebay, just not from MK consultants- they are not suppose to use EBAY- Many of the products you see on EBAY are from consultants who are no longer active. Some are picked up at garage sales, what is left from their stock, kind of going out of business -- that kind of thing. You can get some great deals-- just be sure to watch your dates on products, esp. those with say sun block.

For any MK or Avon sales person, just be firm.

1)Tell them you like the products, but have no desire to join the club. (You will let them know if you change your mind)

2) If you want to order you will contact them. No phone calls, no dropping by, no texts. You will place the order via website

3) They have a quarterly sale booklet that you can receive via mail-- that is good enough to keep you in the know of new products-- You can access their website place order and give them a message regarding payment and delivery-- No personal contact-

4) You pick up the orders. I had mine left at the reps. house under a planter- This was before my daughter started. Don't let them come to you-even at work -- You lose control of the time- when you let them in-- Keep to the grab it and go, no sales talk. Have them mail it to you- no contact at all.

5) They can email you say once a week- or every 2 weeks- with their E-promotions- You set the settings on their website for these. If they go over tell them you will buy from someone else.

6) If they don't follow your wishes-get another rep, that simple. Make it clear that you don't want to join, and if they want to sell they will follow these rules.

There is a big push of course to get sales consultants to sign up under you-- They have some good products, you just have to find the right rep. Sounds like this one is a little over board. I would search for a new rep., maybe someone you know has one that is not as pushy. Ask at the place that does you hair, or nails. Good luck.

I used to use the Mary Kay deep cleanser number 3 but it's now discontinued. I used to LOVE it and to this day have not found a cleanser I like as much. I tried the timewise cleanser but didn't like it enough to finish the first bottle. I do like the eye make up remover and the lipsticks/lip glosses. I had been meaning to try some of their new products but have not gotten around to it.

I would love to know what people are loving in the latest Mary Kay line as well.

I love their eye makeup remover-- Oil free and not too expensive

I am 53-- I purchase some of the Timewise products. The night solution- antioxidants

Timewise-- Replenishing Serum has + C and TIMEWISE night restore complex this comes in Dry/ normal or Oily formulas -- Many of their products have same ingredients as some of the more expensive ones.

These are my top three. I also use shadows , blushes from time to time. I won't use another eye make up remover. It really is the best. I try to switch up and try new things -- but these I have kept in my routine over the years.

I have to tell you this, one of the reps -- she wasn't pushy -- she let me come to her and never tried to sign me up, but she was a "Close Talker" LOL Really - she would get real close when I would pick up my order at her house, and it was full of MK product..There was not much room to move around and I felt claustrophobic .. so it was really strange, I thought it was me at first until my daughter mentioned the same thing happened to her, that she felt like saying -- Hey your in my space. I think most sales folks would rather you be honest -- tell them you don't want to join up, that way they don't waste their time and yours. I hope you enjoy your products, they do have some nice things. Also their price is pretty good too and they try to keep new things coming. They even have some baked eye shadows.

GaGa, I get what you're saying. People view the 'pressure' differently. I don't want to offend anyone, but often pressure from consultants to host parties or recruit new consultants happens. I have a neighbor/friend of 20 years who retired from education about the time I did. She's a WildTree consultant and for the first time in years is out of the classroom and enjoying being an independent business woman. I'm so happy for her, but the pressure she puts on people is too much. She loves meeting people, winning cruises and business trips and her husband goes with her if she sells over and above. He's getting ready to retire and will begin helping her. It good for them, but....They once hosted a SuperBowl party and asked people not to bring food, just drinks. She had their products set up on the dining room table. Her dips and food were from her products and she asked everyone to purchase items if they enjoyed the food. It was weird for everyone except the hosts. When we meet for dinner or shows, she hands me a brochure. I get emails about her products weekly. Her friends can always tell when a travel trip is on the horizon. You don't want to let go of relationships or offend others, but some consultants are known to put the pressure on. I'm opting to have little or no reaction to her sales techniques because I want to keep the couple friendship.

That was my experience also. When I was in college in the late 80s, I told the MK rep that she could do a free facial after midterms. She stalked me until after graduation.

I used to use their products years ago, and I really liked them.

I was introduced to a rep. through a friend. I made it clear to the rep. that I didn't want to sell any products.

She would keep calling me though, to try and sell products to me, even though I had just recently bought several products back at the time, in the line to get started with, and I felt as though I didn't need anything else.

She just kept calling me and calling me, and would not stop. She was one that even though you would tell her "no" outright, she wouldn't listen to you. I found that to be very frustrating.

We ended up moving away, and that was the only way that she stopped calling.

My dear mother (departed) was a MK consultant... she reached the goal of director. I bought and bought from her... but she told me I was her most difficult customer... meaning my skin broke out when others didn't.

Mary Kay and Merle Norman saved my skin, which was so broken out during teen years. This is when I learned that my skin was better with the right foundation/protection ON rather than OFF. I think it reacted to the sun and pollutants in the air.

These days I religiously use MK Cleansing Cream formula 1. THE BEST in one step it removes my mascara and all make-up. My skin feels great after. I don't use a toner. Have purchased some products that are now discontinued... such as the cream concealer in a twist-up tube (it illuminates); the serum is discontinued which has a high lactic (?) acid content -- a great exfoliater. The night cream (orange -- it is the original) is WONDERFUL if your skin dries up... wet the skin first, then use a VERY THIN LAYER. It cures dry heels overnight... recently used dabs when on a trip and had forgotten my renova. HTH

I might try the lipstick and lip liner... and oh, PS I used to be a consultant... (my mom "badgered" me)...
