Collagen supplement

So Andrew Lessman has a new supplement, Marine peptide collagen. Its a powder you mix with liquid. Suppose to help with, joints, skin, wrinkles and some other stuff.

So of course when wrinkiles were mentioned, I started researching other supplements w/ collagen.

My question -has anyone been using marine collagen supplements. If so does it really help wrinkles? and do yo u think AL is better than what is currently offered?

I know in Japan the women there are all into drinking the liquid collagen. They are really into smooth beautiful skin. Perhaps there is something to it.

Please, please talk with your physician(s).

I hate to bring bad news, but the physicians I work with say ingesting collagen is expensive and does absolutely nothing for the skin.

Those who have nice skin are seeing the benefits of the products they apply directly (or who have cosmetic procedures). Livestrong.com explains it well -- the collagen never will make it past the enzymes which digest it quickly:

They're promoting the product, it's one of their sponsors.

Please keep that in mind, and ask a physician (who's not selling the product) about the science.

At first glance, it sounds good (and easy) but as the Esurance commercial says, "it doesn't work that way."

i looked at it because collagen seemed to make sense...but the reviews aren't great.

i have been thinking about trying phytoceramides. some posted here about them maybe 6 or 8 months ago. curious to know their results!

I use Bulletproof Upgraded Collagen or Great Lakes Gelatin Co. Collagen Hydrosylate and definitely think it helps. In the past people used to take in more collagen, gelatin by eating more skin, marrow, bones and not just the muscle meat (different amino acid profiles). You can also just make bone broth but taking collagen and gelatin is easier.

I used to use the Neocell Super Collagen Type I and III in the past but now I realize how bad it tastes in comparison to the above two.

Well I bit the bullet and ordered AL last night while it was still on special.

I got the 60 day supply. Figured that would be enough time to give it a go and see if I see or feel results.

If feel that ingesting it, if our bodies will accept it , is like vitamins, adding to things our diet doesnt give us anymore.

My SIL is Japanese and she & my brother live outside Tokyo. The main reason her skin is so beautiful is protecting it from the sun and weekly facials. She is almost 70 and looks about 40. She does not drink collagen.

l ordered this when it first was brought to HSN. It sold-out pretty quickly but I was lucky enough to get it with extended delivery. I feel now like I would never want to be without it. Kind of like consuming the pure energy and essence of the sea. The taste is pretty neutral to me and it does dissolve in water as Andrew demonstrated.

Yes! My order was on extended delivery, but I just got notice that it shipped. I probably wont get it unti next week, since i'm on the east coast and its shipping from the west coast

I ordered it too. I probably have taken it 5 days out of the last 7. I started with less than a full scoop just in case and I forgot to take it a couple of days. Today I put it in a ""green"" Vitamix drink.

Yes I ordered this too and started taking it daily this will be day 5. I purchased the large size as it seems to be always out of stock. I am game to give it a try, I mix it with water and it is just fine to drink. I take many of AL vitamins so this was a no-brainer
