I you want a paste type product for spiking, get the Bed Head Manipulator. You don't need much so the jar will last a good while.

I have tried a lot of hair products to make my hair stay in place....freezing hair spray, aveda paste, jonathan dirt, wax...nothing seems to work. My hair looks ok when I leave the house but by noon, and 'hold' is gone. I am usually pretty thrifty so I don't spend a lot on these products but at this point I am willing to try just about anything to make my hair 'hold' all day, I would appreciate any suggestions, thanks!!

Big Sexy Hair Root Plump Plus. If this stuff doesn't make your hair do what you want it to, I would be greatly surprised. It is a mousse product, so you would either use it after washing or dampening your hair. Then style. It may take a good bit of product (it does with my hair - but mine is long). At any rate...excellent product.

Okay, I realize that this is an older product, but I used to love Jonathon's Dirt. I also liked a product from TIGI that came in a stick and you could swipe it on your hands and then apply to hair. The TIGI product may still be available.

Style Sexy Hair Hard Up. It's a hard holding gel that works for spiking. Can use on dry or damp hair. I think I got it on Amazon, but could be a drugstore item.

I bought the smallest size tube to try it out. Don't let the color scare you---it's kind of a teal blue out of the tube. The trick is to style, gel and don't touch. You can re-spike with a little water.

One is called SoftFlocker and the other is called Featherlite Texturizing Cream.

Nick's SoftFlocker is a styling cream that's good for those spiky hairstyles and hold.

Nick's Featherlite Texturizing Cream is good for bouncy curls, creating layers in the hair and has a light hold.

Nick's SoftFlocker is sold on both QVC and Nick's website, but Nick's Featherlite Texturizing Cream is sold at just his website...that I know of anyway. You just type in nick chavez beverly hilss dot com to get to Nick's website.

When my hair was short and spiky, I loved a product called Bondage. Once in, it wasn't going anywhere. If you don't wash it off your hands when you're finished styling, stuff will stick to your hands! It sounds yucky, but I loved it. Don't recall who made it or if it's even still available ,but if I went back to that hairstyle, it's the first product I'd go looking for.
