Need recs for good drug store hand cream/lotion, please

I don't post very much on Beauty Banter, but I need recs for some good drug store brand hand lotion/creams. My hands are in rough condition and nothing I have in house is helping. Lately I have been using CeraVe Moisturizing Cream, but have been abusing my hands with lots of cleaning, scrubbing, and not wearing rubber gloves, so now my hands are rough feeling. No cracks or bleeding, but very rough. I also am hard on my hands in Spring, Summer , and Fall with tons of yard work which I do wear gardening gloves for, so any recommendations you can offer will be appreciated. I am 64 and overall my skin has become drier as the years pass. Thank you in advance. Will check back on the thread off and on tonight.

When my hands get really dry and I get cracks in my fingers I use O'Keeffe's Working Hands Hand Cream. I bought it at BB&B but I have seen it in CVS, It works pretty well. It also comes in a foot cream but they were out of it at CVS, I haven't tried it yet but will.

Try alternating an exfoliating AHA cream, like AmLactin or Eucerin Intensive Repair, with a richer hand cream, like Eucerin original or pure shea butter. The AHA cream will help exfoliate dry skin and the richer cream will help lock moisture in.

I like to add a few drops of oil to my drugstore creams and lotions, to give them some additional oomph. I use argan or rose hip seed oil, but you can also use a drop of olive oil you might already have in the pantry.

Palmers Cocoa butter!!! The body oil is awsome too! Put that on after the shower. Smells delish, and doesn't break the bank!! I have the hand cream too...it's in a tube (I think it's hand) but it says concentrated, and it's thick, and smell like cocoa. I keep it in my night table and apply at night. But the whole line is terrific...hope you try it.

Nivea in the large white plastic jar called Nivea SOFT.....inexpensive and very good . can be used on body, hands and face! have used it for years...lives up to its name..SOFT.

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Fisherman's Hand Cream

It's one of the best out there! It's got a thick feel to it and it works! Hope your hands feel better!

Try Avon Moisture Therapy which you can order online. When it's on sale I but about 10 at a time. Have never found anything better. It's very similar to Neutrogena but cheaper.

If even the tub of CeraVe isn't working for you, try Vanicream in the tub with the pump. I have not found anything richer. I get mine at Target.

All of these are good recommendations, but olive oil is better and soaks in. It is the only thing that helps when I'm in the rough of an eczema breakout. I use many of the above for maintenance of my hands and body and during breakouts. I use olive oils after my hands have been in water or I have been sweating. The sweat breaks out my wrists, eye lids and around my mouth. The olive oil doesn't cause breakouts on my face, but I have used the Walmart version of Eucerin on my face as well. Right now I picked up a tube of Gold Bond Eczema with oatmeal. It is more of a lotion than a heavy cream like the Eucerin.

I forgot to mention that as you age your skin thins, so you are probably seeing more of this as you age. Your dry skin also can be helped by drinking more water!

My old favorite, great for heels too. Walgreens also has O'Keefe's Working Hands.

ChanelNanny....... my daughter-in-law gave me a small container of the Nivea Soft in my spa basket for Christmas and I love it! So does my daughter! Had to go out and get the big container of it. Nice fresh scent and my hands feel and look great since using it.

Hand Salve by Burt's Bees is excellent for healing hands with eucalyptus in it and other good ingredients. Burt's also a product called "Gud" and the body lotion is excellent. It completely healed the dryness I had near my elbow. It comes in about 6 different scents and you will find it at Target and some drug stores.
