Refreshing hardened powder pallettes

We all have those powder pallettes that we don't use everyday. Recently I went to use one of mally's blush kits and it was hard as a rock. Has anyone had this problem and how did you solve it. She no longer makes this palette and I really don't want to reinvest in another one of her kits if this is the nature of the beast.

I think I saw if you put on a piece of scotch tape and then removed it, it would remove the dried out layer. Hot and Flash has a Youtube video on this, and I think this is what she thought was the best.

If you are referring to her Shimmer, Shape and Glow blush system she still makes it and sells refills on her website.

I used the back of the brush to scratch off the dried layer and used what came up.

I've had the best luck using scotch tape, also.
