Hi Southern, How are you? I recently purchased a Vicks' cool mist humidifier filter-free that is super quiet (you don't hear a thing). It was $39.99 and I bought it at Target. If you are interested, the model no. is V4600 with auto shuf off, easy once a week cleaning and/or descaling. I purchased one from the Q and it stopped working so I saved money & bought this one. The Vicks is also for a med. size room 1.2 gal. tank goes all night & beyond. I don't know anything about the TSV.

My DH and I heat our house with a woodburning stove so humidifiers are an absolute must for us.

We have 1 in every room downstairs and then 1 in our bedroom upstairs. All of our's are the ultrasonic cool mist so there is no filter. We made the mistake of buying one that needed a filter and it never worked right and the filters were expensive.

I can't speak to this brand for the ultrasonic. We have 2 Vornados that are much bigger in our downstairs and then an ultrasonic Sunbeam in our kitchen.

I have a Walgreen brand in my bedroom. We've had all of our units for several years without any problem.

The one thing I will say about these types of ultrasonic units is all of mine produce a white mist that gets on everything. It doesn't matter what kind of water we use. We'd never be able to use jugs of water because we'd go broke buying the water. Our units run from about 3:30 p.m. until the following morning all winter long and the often run the entire weekend.

I don't know if that white film issue has been addressed or not.

This has been my issue. I have returned a few ultrasonics because of this. I had one that used a wicking filter, but the filter sat in the water and it got moldy so fast and the filters are pricey. I wish I can find one to use. My house is so dry...

I was just reading a bit on humidifiers since I need a new one. I need to do more research before making another purchase. I have the Air Innovations Q sold last Jan as a TSV. They should have issued refunds since after doing a little research I found they had a recall on it due to fire hazard. I read the fan is not grounded properly. After I received it last Jan I used it for about 6 wks last yr & have used it for about 6 wks so far this season. I paid around $62 so that's a little pricey for 12 wks use & can no longer use due to fire hazard. Now it's making an annoying loud buzzing noise from the fan so we cannot use it because you cannot sleep. This makes no difference now after reading it's a fire hazard I won't be using it anyways because I don't want to burn down our house. Q thanks for notifying me about the recall. From the little research I have done so far it states the ultrasonic technology is better. I don't want one of those if they produce a lot of white dust as this is bad for your lungs. I used our reverse osmosis water for the Air Innovations humidifier & never had that problem. I was considering the TSV but guess I need to pass until I can do more research so probably won't be buying one before next winter. I want to make sure I buy a good one & know I'm not inhaling white dust or any other type bacteria from using one.

kristan don't know how you can use a stock pot of water. That may help some during the day but won't help while you are sleeping. I would never leave my stove on while sleeping.

This recall involves Air Innovations branded Ultrasonic Clean Mist humidifiers with mood lights. Model number MH-407 and date code MX1342, MX1343, MX1344, MX1344, MX1345 or MX1346 are printed on a label affixed to the underside of the humidifier. The recalled humidifiers are 15 inches high and were sold in four colors: black, silver, red and blue. A mood light button and the words “Air Innovations” are on the front of the one-gallon humidifiers. QVC item number V32459 is printed on the packing slip shipped with the humidifier.

I just bought a Honeywell because my old humidifier finally gave up. It has a filter that needs to be changed in 3 months but it is totally worth it. It has been running now for 1 1/2 weeks and there is no scummy stuff in the tray or the water reserve. I only run it about 12 hours a day.

I cannot understand the problems with air innovations. Over 5 years ago, I bought one & it stopped working, exchanged it for a new one & it stopped working. I decided to give them another chance & purchased one at the end of last year. It stopped working after 3weeks to 1 mo. Never again. They really need to get it right or the Q should stop selling that brand.

I had an Aprilaire humidifier installed on my heat pump to work on the whole house with the heating system, what a piece of junk that was!!!

Vicks sounds like what I'm looking for, Thank you for that info, and I will be locating that product.

Did you use distilled water in your unit? We have well water and I use distilled water in my appliances.. steam iron, etc.

My husband is thinking of putting one on our furnace because his Son In Law has one and said it works great. I think its a waste of time. I just want a good one for the bedroom that doesnt spit out a ton of dust..

I have an Air Innovations Humidifier that I bought from QVC. It's supposed to have a filter and not make white dust. However, I get really bad white dust on my TV set in my bedroom. I'm not noticing the white dust anyplace else. I use filtered water from my reverse osmosis system. I'm not about to buy distilled water, as it goes through water in the tank every 3 days. There's also a white deposit inside the unit, which I clean off each time I empty the water from the tank and reservior. I'm thinking I should return it, so I can get it back before the end of the month. I have 30% humidity in the bedroom, but don't find that it helps with my sinus problems.

I bought several and so far so good, I needed a supplement to my internal humidifier and these work just fine in the spare bedrooms and den.
