Zuzu Luxe Lipsticks

Zuzu Luxe is a line that is part of Gabriel Cosmetics -- a company that manufactures "natural" beauty products. .

I had been familiar with Gabriel, used to love a toner they discontinued ages ago, but I had not heard of Zuzu until someone started a thread about it recently. On that thread, I believe it was magemay who recommended the lipsticks. Zuzu Luxe seems to be Gabriel's slight higher-end line.

I checked them out at Whole Foods, where they kindly have testers. I really liked the selection of shades and the feel of them. I ended up buying a couple, along with two of their lipglosses, on pharmaca.com at an amazing discount. I also bought two shades from WF, which had been running a sale.

The product is vegan and gluten-free and certified by Leaping Bunny to be cruelty-free. The ingredients are few and simple, and they have no fragrance. So far I am very pleased with the formula. I have exceptionally dry lips, and these do not exacerbate that problem. They have decent longevity. Some are opaque, some are sheer, and some have shimmer to varying degrees.

The shades I have are Obsession (sheer raspberry with cool creme undertones), Indulgence (reddish plum with subtle gold shimmer), Galaxy (sweet berry tone with cool undertones), and Allure (purplish coral with warm undertones).

So far I really like these lipsticks. They retail at $18, I believe, but are much less on pharmaca.com., especially with a promo code available on their site or on retailmenot.com.

You're most welcome. I should have mentioned that one of the two lip glosses I bought is a super nice pinky-berry-ish shade that looks good alone or over a lipstick. It's "Mischief."

I also bought a Zuzu blush called "Nymph" (where do they come up with these silly names?). It's unusual. It's a lilac shade that I never would have tried if I hadn't read the reviews on, I think, MUA. It's very light and sheer. I think it would look particularly good on very fair, cool-toned skin.

oh I actually like mauve-ish type blushes but a good one is hard to find so I generally stick to light pinks when I wear a blush. I will check it out!

Ingredients: Mica, Cetyl Palmitate, Silica, Kaolin, Zinc Stearate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Lecithin, Crithmum Maritimum (Sea Fennel) Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide.

Thanks for the info. I have used Gabrielle mascara and really like it. I've seen the Zuzu but never stopped to try it.

Thanks for your post, suzy. I discovered Zuzu at Whole Foods. I tried the lip tester and was impressed. Sadly upon purchase I felt that it was very drying. Not a fan.

Since then I got my hands on a Pur Minerals lipstick (as a suggestion to my beloved standby). Much better quality IMO.

ooh that is pretty SQ3! I am going to try to find the line around. I will look better at WF and then try a few more places that carry unique brands like this.

It's always good to find something that works for you. I have very dry lips, so I never assume that a lipstick or gloss will be actually live up to the hype. The most I hope for is that it is not drying, as opposed to the hype about being hydrating.

For me, Zuzu qualified.

I posted on this line. Since my original post I even bought more. Love everything so far. Can't be heavy handed with blush just need touch. I got the palette Peep show. Love it. Haven't tried lipstick yet but mascara is best natural I have found. Non clumping. Skincare is great. I am sensitive with slight Rosacea but have had no problem with this line. Love it more than any line I have tried. Love the Mosaic also does not settle into lines and wrinkles. Recommend line highly!

From my short time perusing that site, this is the best discount so far and better than what I received when I purchased from them a couple weeks ago.

I was able to check out the lipstick shades from testers at my local Whole Foods.

Suzy, I bought two lippies on pharmaca, bc I needed some Mrs Meyers products, and there was an awesome discount on everything! I don't remember which colors I ordered, bc I put several in there and then weeded them out. They ended up being $10 each! Thanks for the heads up. I'll let you know what I think once I receive them later this week.

I'll be curious to know. I don't find them either either super moisturizing or super drying. I do use PC's lip balm first. I particularly like the berry tones that I bought.

The only one that I bought that I did NOT like was the shade Icon, which was the lightest of my haul and a sort of unusual pinkie-corally-purpley tone. Fortunately, I bought that one locally and so could return it.

It was a pretty shade but way too much shimmer. And since it was a fairly light shade, when it faded all that was left was shimmer, which seemed to collect in the lines on my lips. Not a look I was going for, but others have posted good reviews, so what do I know?

Haven't tried lipsticks but will. I think different people respond differently so will give a try. Thanks Suzy for the info about Pharmaca. Great site but doesn't carry whole line. Basically the ZuZu line. I have tried a little of everything I got my Mosaic compact from Pharmaca and I think the mascara. Great site. Use it all the time.

Hey, Suzy!! Love the lippies!! I bought Obsession and Indulgence. They both look great with my fair skin, and are pretty similar to one another. I wore them both today with a burgundy top, and a lady at the movie theater saw me putting it on and asked what it was. It really makes my blue eyes stand out, too. I do wish they last a little longer, but only stains and true long wearing lippies last more than 2-3 hours on me. Those are usually too drying, anyway, and so I just pass on them. I did top it with Bite Agave Lip Mask in Champagne, and that looked really pretty. I might check them out at WF next time I go, to see if mine has them, and look at other colors. I do like the balmy texture of them. They don't feel hydrating, but certainly not drying. Anywho.....thank so much for the rec!!!

Glad that they seem to work for you, FUTURE. Another very nice shade is Galaxy. And I do like their Mischief lip gloss. It's nice both on its own and over a similar shade of lipstick.
