topic Recommendation for a good exfoliating tool for the body? in Beauty

I know I have seen some mention here some sort of exfoliating tool that they use for their bodies, many doing even dry rubs with it, and is considered too harsh for the face. I have tried doing a search but to no avail as I can't recall the exact item name. The BB search box is not all that helpful in general, imo anyway.

I am desperate for something as my skin is so dry this year that it itches almost non stop due to the constant build up of dead skin. On my legs in particular tho elsewhere too. I use scrubs in the shower but they are not helping much as they have in the past due to the severity of the problem.

I wish I could remember now some of the BB ladies who use this and think I recall a few but hate to mention names in the event I am wrong. I know some of them are really informed posters.

If anyone sees this and thinks they know what I am referring to, please post for my poor skin's sake (along with my mental state) I will be so grateful. As I recall, this exfoliating tool is very effective and loved by those who use it.

Any other ideas also welcome. I can't use salt scrubs due to the uber sensitivity of my skin but can use anything sugar based.

Sincere thanks and hoping that someone sees this and recognizes what I am referring to.

I'm pretty sure you are talking about the Salux Cloth. I have one. It works really good at removing dead dry skin. I use the Perlier Honey shower gel with it & apply lotion or L'Occitane almond supple shower oil. Search Salux to read posts about it.

I use a salux cloth when I shave my legs. But I also use a stiff dry brush before I shower. My skin has never been softer. The dry brush I use is hard to find at a regular store. I had to find one online. And I moisturize very well after every shower.

I also have dry skin. My dermatologist told me years ago STOP using soap on my face and body. Boy, did I see a difference! I use a non - soap cleanser and once a week I use St.Ives Apricot Scrub. After my shower, I combine a bit of baby oil with a moisturizer. Works great! The big key is stop using soap!!!

I use a hard dry brush at night before I go to bed. It stimulates the lymphatic system that moves the toxins out. I bought mine at a spa, it comes with a removable long handle. You use long strokes beginning with the extremities and brush toward your heart. My skin is very soft and the little bumps I had under my forearm (from desk work) are gone. Then I moisturize with Argan Oil and it soaks right in and leaves no oily feeling.

Another vote for the Salux cloth and a dry skin brush, or you can dry skin brush w/ the Salux cloth, it just my personal preference to use a brush for that.

Wackers, does your body wash/soap contain Sodium lauryl or laureth sulfates (SLS/SLES)? They can be really drying, especially SLS. I stopped buying and using everything (face, hands, body, hair, and pet products) that contained them, added humidifiers and we no longer have dry skin. Hth.

Another vote for the Salux cloth...I love that it's long enough that I can hold an end in each hand & scrub my back with it!

I too love the Salux cloth. I also really like dry brushing. I use the Yerba Tampico skin brush and it is wonderful. And for me, the best shower gel is Caress daily silk. I also use Amlactin lotion or Honest Body oil to moisturize.

Thank you so much to all - it was the Salux Cloth I was thinking of as many here obviously seem to like it and see results. I know I had read about it here in the past but was drawing a blank on the exact name. I don't use any soap on my body - haven't for years due to my uber dry skin but for some reason this year, it's worse than normal.

I am definitely going to pick up a Salux and try dry brushing too when my skin can tolerate it. Think I'll have to work up to that as it is so sensitive right now. I'll be sure to check out some of the brushes mentioned too.

Thanks again to everyone who responded - my skin sure needs some extra help beyond typical scrubs. Have a great weekend.

I'm thinking I had each one at least 2 months and they were still intact when I tossed them.

I like those Salux cloths, available from a lot of places online, and if I'm out of them, I use the nylon scrub puffs from Walgreens or any drug store. I find they work well with shower gel. For legs, I like a body polish like a exfoliating cream--or I mix up sea salt crystals with olive oil. It's messy but it works really well. Some people prefer raw sugar and olive oil as it scratches the skin less.

Can you wash those salux cloths? I'm curious because you said you toss it when it gets gross.

I use the soft nylon net scrub poufs (I have several) because I can wash them in the washing machine every time I use one. My 65-yr-old skin is always soft and bump-free.
