Our local CBS affiliate in LA had a story about it. It looks interesting. They have the story up on their website but not the video. They did say that it hurts but not bad. It lasts for about 2 years. No cutting - just ultrasound that heats up the underlying collagen and firms up the chin. Here's the link: http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2014/11/25/simple-procedure-uses-ultrasound-to-treat-turkey-neck-without-surgery/

ETA to add: Here is a link with pictures before and after. http://www.manhattan-dermatology.com/ultherapy-skin-tightening-cosmetic-dermatology.html

I had Ultherapy on August 18th on my jaw line and lower face. It was done by a Plastic Surgeon.

Yes, it was painful. The Dr. gave me a script for 2 Percocet to take before the procedure if someone was driving. Because I was driving, I was only allowed to take one. I am pretty good with pain but this procedure was tough. The Doctor felt that I was really handling the pain well.

Anyhow, I have a follow up in 2 weeks. I just turned 68 and feel that there was NOT much of a change. The 2 procedures cost me over $2,000. I do not feel it was worth the money.

Through the years I have had a mini face lift, etc. and this procedure did very little if anything.

ElvisShops.....the results take 3 months, it is already past the 3 months. If you look at the pictures that Doctors post on the internet you will see that the results are very minimal.

I am going to the Plastic Surgeon next week for my 3 month follow up. The one thing the Doctor did say is that people over 60 years old do not get as good results as younger people. She was very honest with me.

In August I was going to have my forehead done the same time as the jawline and lower face but the Doctor wanted me to see the results of the jaw and lower face before doing the forehead. I am guessing that she felt that I might not be pleased with the results.

It is my opinion that the cost does not justify the minimal results. No one has even noticed any difference in my appearance.

A younger person will probably see better results.

I have had fillers, mini face lift, Botox, etc. in the past and got better results for the $$$$$.

.............butterfly

I had ultherapy on my neck a year ago and I'm going again in January. Im very pleased with the results and don't want to start at base line again. It was somewhat painful but I tolerated it with a couple of OTC pain relievers. It does take a couple of months to see full results. I was amazed at the improvement but everyone is different..I'm 66

Disneydiva......glad you got good results. Why are you doing it again so soon?

Mine was painful in the jaw line because we don't have a lot of fat between the skin and bone to absorb the pulses .

My Dr. raised and lowered the intensity based on what area she was doing. I could tolerate the lower face but the jawline was really painful.

......butterfly

butterfly....It will be a year and a half in January and I don't want to wait until all the benefits wear off before I do this a again. It will be half the price of the original procedure since I already had it done once. For me, I don't want surgery again ( I had a neck/facelift 16 years ago) That may be why it worked well for me. The doctor said he had the best results from people who had prior surgery and the skin is beginning to sag once again. So, that's probably a clue if you have a great deal of laxity, it will not work well. Only surgery can help that. I only had my neck done and she went up to the underside of the jawbone. As you know, if you hit bone, it hurts a bunch. As she started, I thought, oh, this isn't so bad, but by the time she finished it hurt a lot, but it did not linger. I hoped this helped explain the procedure for me.

Certain areas are very painful (jaw line), but the MD will give you meds. to take ahead of time. More meds. if you are not driving.

You will not get the same effect as fillers or surgical procedures (I have had both). For most people the results make you look "rested". Some people get better results than others.

I had a mini face lift 8 years ago and the results were much better than the Ultherapy (which was very minimal). But you have to remember that the Ultherapy is not surgery and cost me approx. $2,400 as compared to the mini face lift that was done in the doctors surgi office for approx. $8,000.

I would only suggest trying Ultherapy if you have extra money to spend and do not expect big results.

If you do get good results than I would keep doing it, it is a lot safer than any type of surgery.

Hope this helps.

.................butterfly

Most of the "afters" really didn't seem to show any differences. There were a couple that showed a slight improvement, but not enough that it seemed to make a real difference. I do think any procedure should definitely be natural looking, but these pics showed (maybe) a too natural looking "after." :-)

I'm sure it does vary with people, though, and it's great for those who receive noticeable but natural results. I'm not at a point in my life where I am considering something like this, but if/when I do, I would rather have this type of procedure than a surgical procedure. I appreciate reading everyone's experiences.

On 11/30/2014 Disneydiva said:
butterfly....It will be a year and a half in January and I don't want to wait until all the benefits wear off before I do this a again.

That may very well be why it gave you better results. Thanks for sharing that info. Like ElvisShops already stated, I'm sure your comments (and Butterfly's comments) will help others weigh the pros and cons. I'm happy for you that you received great results!
