It could be an allergic reaction to something new you're using, or something in your environment. I'd try to eliminate the source of what's causing it, if you can figure that out.

If you wear eye makeup you are probably getting allergic to it. I had used Loreal for years and all at once my eye lids started to swell and got red and scaley. I put neospuron on my lids and did not wear make up until the swelling went down, 2 or 3 days. I switched to Alamay eye make up and my eye lids cleared up. I can use the IT eyeliner now and don't have any problems.

Try CeraVe eye cream. You can find it in drug stores, or Wal-Mart. It's affordable, and works well. It hydrates parched skin. If this is a new condition for you, reconsider anything new you've added to your routine, even laundry soaps and softeners.

I had this problem and switched from Johnson & Johnson's Head to toe Baby wash, which I was using to take off my mascara, to Aveeno Baby organic harvest foaming wash and baby shampoo. I have also tried J&J's Baby Naturals foaming wash. Voila! I haven't had the problem since. Either I was allergic or I wasn't getting my eyelids completely rinsed and had a reaction. The foaming wash is easier to wash off.

The Aveeno seems to be less available now, but it is still on Amazon and Walmart.com. I think J&J is still in stores. Good luck!

It could be any number of things. Do you wear eye makeup and how do you remove it? My lids became very itchy, red, swollen, and flaking, and I switched what I was removing my eye makeup with. I had used Purity for years to remove the makeup, and got some eye makeup remover pads from Almay (the oily kind for waterproof makeup) - that seemed to do the trick for me. I use those first, and then use my Purity on my face with no problems. Eyelids cleared right up and have stayed clear. The Purity was too harsh to effectively remove the makeup from my eyes, I guess.

I agree, it could be blepharitis. I was diagnosed with it a few years ago. The tiny pores in the eyelids clog up, then the oils that help the eye don't flow properly. It can also lead to 'dry eye', another eye issue that I have and take Restasis for. I recommended to someone who posted a topic on this a foam eyelid cleanser called 'OCuSoft Lid Scrub'. You squirt some out, gently massage over the eyes then rinse with warm water. I got it on Amazon; it has great reviews and lasts forever and is very gentle. It also comes in pads that are individually wrapped (Systane brand has one).

All of my docs have also recommended using warm compresses (wet a facecloth) for 4-5 min. Gently hold over the eyes...feels good, too. If they're red, it could be an allergy to makeup or something else. Good luck and hope you feel better!

Have you seen an ophthalmologist? He/She can examine your eyes and tell you. No one here has seen your eyes or examined them and no one here probably has the credentials to tell you. It's like guessing how many apples in a bin you have never seen. Eyes are very important to your health and well being. See a doctor. Even a doctor sometimes diagnoses wrong, so what do you expect of us?

Yes. I have had to stop using all eye shadows with glimmer or shimmer. My doc told me it's like applying little shards of glass across a delicate area. I use a cream he gave me and that usually clears it up in two days. You can't use too much because it will thin your eyelid skin.

I had this problem as a teenager from wearing Maybelline eyeshadow. The dermatologist said it was blepharitis due to an allergy to the eyeshadow. He gave me a mild cortisone cream to use on my eyelids until they healed.

At that time, he told me to switch to Mary Kay cosmetics. Nowadays, there are many excellent brands of cosmetics, but anybody can be allergic to anything.

When that was not the problem, I went to he dermatologist. It took four different prescriptions to clear the problem. The problem became worse before it finally disappeared.

My opinion is go to the doctor.

CeraVe is a good lotion, but, it did not clear up the issue for me.

Best of luck.
