Hair Cut Costs?

How much do you have to pay for getting your hair trimmed? I was shopping yesterday and spur of the moment stopped at the JCP salon while in that store (in the next town over) . I got my bangs point cut and she point cut the ends. She did not take much of my hair off at all since I asked her not to.
So I was totally not expecting to have to pay $32 for that. Is this a fair price??? I am certainly not used to paying more than $20 in our town.

Also how do you get side swept bangs and is there a lot of care to them? I was considering it but with my bangs in my eyes I just decided to do the quick fix and get them trimmed as I said above.

How do you keep those side swept ones out of your face? I see people all the time constantly pushing their hair out of their eyes and face and it is annoying.

Our local TV station sells 1/2 off certificates for the local beauty college occasionally which I purchase every time. Just had my long hair colored Thursday and it cost $12.50. I go to the same person until they graduate so she gets to know what I like then have them recommend another student. I've been very pleased and not paying $70+

Most salons charge the same amount for just trimming the ends (or shaping up bangs) as they do for a "full" hair cut. I think it should be less (if you don't have layers, and are just getting all-one-length ends trimmed), but that's just me. I wear my hair shoulder length with no layers, and I just have my ends trimmed every 8 weeks. I hate paying $40 (what they charge at the salon I go to) just to get the ends trimmed. I think $40 is a really fair price for a layered cut, though. I know people living elsewhere pay a lot more. There have been a few times I went to BoRics to get my all-one-length ends trimmed, and it was only around $17, and they did just as good of a job with trimming the ends as my regular hair stylist does.

eta: On second thought, some salons may charge less for shaping up bangs - I don't have bangs, so I really don't know for sure. I do know most salons charge the same for trimming just the ends as they do for a full cut with layers.

I usually get mine wetted (sometimes washed, if I have styling products in it) and for a cut it's $45. I don't get a blow dry or style as I prefer to come home and shower immediately; I get cut with a razor and thinning shears, so hair ends up everywhere.

I get my haircut every 6 weeks so it is basically always a trim. It doesn't matter whether it is a major haircut or a maintenance cut.

$32 would be less than half what I pay. It's my choice, as I know I could go to a chain for a fraction of the price.

I think you are right, long side swept bangs are always in your face unless you use product to keep them in place.

my hair was cut dry other than a tiny spritz on the back and no styling. seems a little too much to pay for what I got and the bangs today I notice she didn't take enough off. wont be going back there ever.

A trim is just a haircut at most salons. I pay $50.00 plus tip for a haircut/ trim. I call it a tuneup as my hair is very short. She will trim the bangs or shave my neck between cuts for free( every 7 weeks) but I never do that.

if the price was important to you then you should have checked it before you sat down. Usually salons here do charge for a walk in - no appointment - vs a scheduled service.

I think that depends on where you live.In places where everything is very expensive then , of course, so are haircuts. I'm sure the exact same haircut in NYC is about 5 times the cost of having it cut in Pittsburgh or Sarasota.

Yes, I said "In big cities". Of course you can always find smaller, low cost chains or independents. But, U take your chances. Not worth the pain & trouble

I can spend at least $130.00 for a cut and single process color, each costs $65.00. So $32 is not so bad at all. In fact the place I used to go to charges me $30.00. I did color my own hair the second time and I am really pleased with he turn out and paying $6.00 is much better then paying $65.00.

I pay $50 at my salon for a trim or cut and she will trim bangs free if you just drop in and she isn't busy.

If I am having someone new cut my hair I always ask up front how much so I have enough cash with me...most here take only cash.

Come to think of it I have never had just a cut without a wash and blow dry for which I pay $70. Since a wash and blow dry is $26 guess I pay $44 for a haircut. I do live just outside of Boston. If I went into Newbury St. (boston) it would be $100+

That sounds weird, LOL, but I know what you mean.

About a year ago I chopped everything to sport the vintage Meg Ryan. I have really thick hair, so I get a cut every 6 weeks. I could go every four, but for some reason I'm not interested in hair and it pains me to even go that often!

I go to a barber shop. Mine is $20. My husbands is $15. Go figure, not fair.. both of us have hair on our head, and he has more trim work and more adjustment as in trim the mustache, etc. I used to pay big bucks like double and I figured IT WAS HAIR and if there would be a problem, it would grow back.

It definitely depends on where you live and whether you go to a high, medium or lower level salon. I pay $60 for haircut and blow dry....plus a tip of course, which is at least $15...

One perk of living in a rural area is that a hair cut and one color is $40, cut, color and highlights is $50 without a tip. No joke.

Of course we have to drive an hour so shop in real stores other than Walmart. LOL
