Over 50 celebs and their BS photos!

I am so tired of seeing over 50 celebs (latest - Sharon Stone) and their "fab" over 50 pictures. Even Oprah on her magazine cover (first of all I think it's totally narcissistic to put her self on the cover each week). I have seen pictures of these celebs when they are out running errands, etc. and the look nothing like their photo shopped pics proclaiming how fit and fab they are! I know there are people who look great (Helen Mirren, Cindy Crawford) but most of them have a lot of nerve to think we are so naive! Sometimes I wish I could take out full page ads proclaiming we are sick of this BS!

Do you not put on make-up and do your hair to have your picture taken?

Most of the celebrities have no say over the publisher photo-shopping their pics, and some of them have actually released the untouched photos themselves.

All celebrities are photo shopped, it doesn't matter if they are over or under fifty. Helen Mirren has had plastic surgery, and Cindy Crawford has been getting botox since her mid-twenties, according to an interview she did. She has even said that she doesn't look like Cindy Crawford when she gets up in the morning. It's all smoke and mirrors. That's what makes makeup and a good hair style such fun.

The fact that they do run around without makeup shows that they want people to see them as they really are. I think that's a modern way of thinking. I have never seen a photo of a celebrity from yesteryear in their prime, in sweats and no makeup. I'm sure they are out there, but it seems that they used to maintain that glamorous illusion for their fans.

I hear you. I think as long as people buy it they will keep on doing it. This is such a weird time in history as far as beauty and special procedures/ surgery , we've always had plastic surgery, movie stars were getting nose jobs and face lifts 50 years ago but the things people do now with injectables at such young ages and the fact that we didn't have them to the degree we do now ...it makes me wonder how people will age with all this stuff. I find it so unnatural looking. It's so rare that people have these things and they don't start to look off to me. Some people do manage to look good and exercise restraint but I think a lot of people ruin their faces and look like wax figures. I wonder what a teenager or early 20 something (like the younger Kardashians and some young actresses) will look like at 50 if they have been doing it for 30 years at that point. And people who age naturally are going to appear to be a lot older than they are because no one will remember what that looks like anymore. It's like a weird twilight zone episode to me.

I agree. We do live in strange times. If you read magazines or use the internet at all it is hard to avoid the stories about celebs and aging. Either they are "fabulous" for their age, or they are ridiculed for looking old. Never before has our culture been so celebrity driven and age obsessed. And the generation coming up is obsessed with taking pictures of themselves so it can only get worse.

Almost every article about female celebrities talks about their age, what they eat, how they workout etc. But the articles about male celebrities focus on their work. It's very sexist and needs to stop.

As for Oprah, she will be 90 years old and still doing the photoshopped magazine covers showing her slim, trim, and young. If there are still magazines then.

the only photos that really are disingenuous are the ones where there has obviously been cosmetic surgery or lap band surgery and tey won't admit to it.... or inches have been shaved off thunder thighs.....give us a break!

I really don't care what goes on in the lives of the celebrities. I have a few favorite actresses and they usually stay out of the lime light. You don't see their faces plastered everywhere.

The covers of Oprah's magazine that feature a picture of her sell MUCH better than the few they tried without her.

Are you talking about the covers with Oprah and someone else? Wiki says she's been on every issue. My sports radio guys giggle over this quite a bit.

Since its inception, Oprah has appeared alone on the cover of each issue. The first shared cover is her April 2009 issue in which she appears with the First Lady MO. The second shared cover is with fellow daytime host Ellen DeGeneres on the December 2009 issue. Four separate covers were shot for this special holiday issue. The December issue of O hit newsstands on November 12, 2009.

I would like to see some pictures...........they have money to do things to stay always looking good even people that come to their homes to help them workout or make them workout..............and then they have the desire to always be top notch for films and tv and in pictures......money buys a lot of things...........

I just had a discussion with a friend today about this. We were talking about a young celeb who is a teen and had injections and I wondered if years from now we are going to be seeing some health conditions and illnesses from some of the things people are injecting into their bodies now. If you do this sort of thing for 30 or 40 years of your life I can't imagine it won't have some sort of systemic effect. At is point no one has done long enough to see what a lifetime of doing it will result in.

Reminds me of the movie, "Last Holiday" with Queen Latifah and she tells the business guy and take your ugly face off your magazine every month. When she says that line (while on the ledge) it reminds me of Oprah.

And all the air brushing and photo shop to make her look thinner. Oprah without makeup is very scary.....

It makes me angry as well- all the plastic surgery and photoshop is putting unrealistic expectations on us and really hurting our self-esteem. I used to really love myself but as I'm aging I find myself more often scowling in the mirror and criticizing every line. I work out but my body isn't perfect, it never will look like the photoshopped celebrities- and I'm trying to be ok with it but I'm always watching men oogle over them and I wish they'd oogle me. It's depressing. And in my heart I know I shouldn't feel this way but I can't help it, this is why I'm so angry! I wish the media would stop shoving these FAKE photos in our faces, and I wish the cosmetic companies would stop promising miracles in jars! It's fake and it's stupid and I'm over it!
