Personally, I think we are getting way too vain once we reach this point. I can certainly appreciate wanting fuller eyelashes, as I barely have any at the moment thanks to cancer and all of the treatment for it. Nevertheless, when we get so very wrapped up in our appearance to go to this level just for eyelashes, we have truly lost sight of what makes us beautiful and attractive to ourselves as well as others.

I think by the time we reach this level nothing we can do will truly satisfy us for long, because their is a problem within ourselves, a lack of self-confidence, making us search for the exacting beauty product to make us so appealing to ourselves and others.

We need to invest in helping our inner beauty shine brighter and making what given beauty we have look its best, without searching for every product made to "fake" it bigger and better.

I'd love to do this, but as said it's all the maintenance. Places advertise a great price for the initial set, but the it's the constant fills that ends up being costly.

I have used individual eyelashes off and on for over 20 years. Once you get the hang of it, they're a snap to apply and last a week if you take care of them and the are a fraction of the cost of professional extensions. The best are the "Everlash Single MINI TRIM Lashes" and you can get them from /madamemadeline.com

I've been wearing lash extensions for just about 3 years now. the initial cost was $125 which is low compared to what is out there and the area where I live, but a friend of mine did the research and found this particular girl.

they do not hurt at all, but some people do need to get used to wearing them. you don't wear mascara with them; it isn't needed. you can go swimming and pretty much do anything you want.

I get mine filled every 3 weeks and it costs me $40 plus tip. I could go longer, but I don't.

I love them and will wear them forever if I can. they're the best thing since sliced bread!!!

I wore them for a few months, but I had some sort of adverse reaction that caused me to permanently lose some of my own lashes. That was over two years ago and the bald spots are still there - no regrowth of my own lashes.

When I first got them, before I started losing my own lashes, I loved how they looked, but they do require very special care around the eye area. If you like to really get in that eye area with makeup remover and eye creams, then extensions are not for you.

If you have the extra cash, don't mind the extra care for the eye area, and they don't cause you to permanently lose your own lashes, then they're great.

I initially got eyelash extensions 2 years ago when I singed my own on the barbecue (bangs too) . I never had great lashes and spent lots of time layering mascara , primer and drying between coats and then curling with a heated eyelash curler . The extensions are beautiful and freeing but they are an expense. They use "Extreme " brand where I go and I get them maintained every two weeks . I didn't plan on having them this long but quickly got used to the way they look and the time saving aspect . If you choose to get them be warned - they are addictive ! (They are not painful at all and to me they are worth it )

Thanks for posting this! A former student, who now works at the salon where I get my hair cut, got eyelash extensions (they looked fabulous) and I wanted to give them a try until she said plan to recline under a bright light (with eyes closed, of course) for about 2 hours for the first set. That was a deterrent for me, and I've been debating with myself since! I would love to have "carefree" wake up and not use mascara for weeks! I once tried natural looking gel nails, but they did ruin my natural nails and now I'd worry about what eyelash extensions may do after reading what Dee in OK wrote. I may have to look into PKB's advice!

It might be vanity for some but I think for most it's just wanting nice lashes. It also doesn't make anybody who likes the look and gets them a bad person and any less of a good person or lacking in self confidence in any way! One can have both ""inner beauty"" and enjoy the look they want! It's rather shallow to judge a person for how they look rather than how they treat others! I love the look of great looking lashes but unfortunately don't have them. I use lash fibers to build length and they look pretty good. It takes time but makes me feel good and happy. It's not about vanity - just feeling the best I can for me!! I have thought about it but would probably have to drive a distance to get them. It sure would be worth it though!

Thanks ladies for your replies. I am not interested in lashes for vanity sake...I just want to be attractive and my own 55 year old lashes are much sparcer now than years ago. I like the idea of not being a morning person struggling for 10 minutes with my own rather pathetic lashes. I think I will go ahead and try them because I have literally tried every mascara with not great results. Thanks again QVC ladies!

There are also eyebrow extensions, for those who over-plucked the 'tails 'decades ago. Despite their mom's warnings.

I could go longer, but I don't.

I love them and will wear them forever if I can. they're the best thing since sliced bread!!!

I have an appointment to get mine done. Are there brands of eye shadow and liner you can wear? Do I have to buy their brand? Thanks.

no, I wear eyeliner only on the bottom lashes and it's cheap drugstore brands and then I wear all brands and types of eyeshadows. one note, though. you don't want to use eye make up remover. I use baby wipes and make up wipes to remove my eye make up. I don't think oil around them is a good idea. ask the person who is putting them on you for instructions though and you will be ok/

Thank you. I would like to use the make up I have. I think I will keep my appointment.
