I agree with some that the tried and true, Folgers Dark Roast, Hawaiian Kona, and Yuban are great. I like my coffee with a little cream and 1 pkt of Stevia.

My current favorite is Costco's Kirkland Dark Roast. We have gone through two Keurigs, and gone back to a regular GE Electric Percolator. We think that really brings out the flavor.

Something that does not taste like feet lol

last year when i turned 44 i had my first coffee experience. Starbucks latte. fell in love.

Today was my first real experience with regular coffee and it tasted like feet lol ( purchased my first brewer) I added a ton of pumpkin spice creamer and it did not help much.

Can someone recommend me a coffee that tastes good, maybe mild, something that works good with a flavored creamer. I have pumpkin spice creamer. I have a single serve coffee brewer that you can use regular ground coffee or a pod.

U need to go to a coffee shop, Starbucks, or where ever, and do a taste test. Or purchase small amounts, 1/4 lb and try it yourself. No one can help U identify a taste you'll like.

Try several different brands. Starbucks, Peet's and Gloria Jean's all have small sampler sizes available. Personally, I can't stand any Starbuck's except their Caffe Verona and it's my all time favorite. If you like mild coffees try the Starbucks Veranda. My daughter likes it. (I can't stand it.)

Coffee is very personal taste. You need to try several different ones. If you have a Keurig then I would suggest going on Amazon and try one of their samplers with lots of different blends. My daughter just suggested that you try the Donut Shop blend if you like a mild coffee.

It's also available in ground coffee at most grocery stores and Amazon.

I don't like dark french roasts, if that helps you to judge if you would like it.

Do you have a Keurig? I sort of got the impression you wanted to use ground coffee? So you must have a percolator, or a mr coffee? If that is the case and you are looking for a good ground coffee, that is mild and not bitter I might try Folgers or Yuban, their regular brew. I use a KKup coffee, but when I had a regular brewer that used ground coffee that was the best, without being bitter. Starbucks is way to strong for me. The only one I use is cafe verona.

Maybe stick with the flavored ones.

I agree. A pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks is in no way the same as a cup of regular ol' joe. There are many people who don't like coffee but can drink sweet latte drinks or the blended coffee drinks with whipped cream and other decadence on top. One is more like dessert, the other is, well, coffee.

One suggestion for the coffee you do have left though- add some pumpkin pie spice in your coffee grounds. That with your creamer will make it a little more tolerable but will still be nothing like the pumpkin spice latte. Also you can try the pumpkin syrups which they use to make the lattes at Starbucks. I love coffee but find Starbucks coffee (not their lattes) is disgusting.

What was the regular coffee you used? You could buy Starbucks brand. I myself don't like flavored creamers. They taste really fake. I'd rather have Pumpkin Spice coffee with full fat creamer than any coffee with flavored creamer. You could also try some flavored syrups. That is what Starbucks uses. You can buy them in grocery stores or from Starbucks. They flavor and sweeten coffee. Then you would add plain creamer. You can even buy a bag of Strabucks beans and ask them to grind the bag for you. Then you will have really fresh coffee.

Black coffee will never taste like a sweet coffee drink. The easiest way to have a similar experience at home is by using a kcup brewer. You don't have to use the expensive keurig. We have a hamilton beach flex brew that will use a k-cup, pod, or loose grounds in a single serve; and it will make a full pot of regular coffee.

As far as brands of loose ground coffee go...I've tried many. I never could brew Starbucks properly, but I love the Starbucks k-cups. Maxwell House brand is generally what I choose for loose. I'm not a fan of sweet coffee drinks, so I'm not sure which k-cup type products to recommend, but there is a plethora to try. Good luck finding something you love!

There is a brand that gets great reviews that I might buy.

HD, I recall that there were some studies that linked French Press coffee with high cholesterol, but I don't remember the details. My husband has to control his, so in our drip coffeemaker we use a paper filter, not one the gold filter, to filter out the culprit.

Oh, here is that info, from the Harvard School of Public Health:

Is drinking coffee made with a paper filter healthier than drinking boiled coffee or other types of coffee?

Coffee contains a substance called cafestol that is a potent stimulator of LDL cholesterol levels. Cafestol is found in the oily fraction of coffee, and when you brew coffee with a paper filter, the cafestol gets left behind in the filter. Other methods of coffee preparation, such as the boiled coffee common in Scandinavian countries, French press coffee, or Turkish coffee, are much higher in cafestol. So for people who have high cholesterol levels or who want to prevent having high cholesterol levels, it is better to choose paper filtered coffee or instant coffee, since they have much lower levels of cafestol than boiled or French press coffee. Espresso is somewhere in the middle; it has less cafestol than boiled or French press coffee, but more than paper filtered coffee.

I don't care for Starbucks nor flavored coffees.

For a mild/everyday coffee try Dunkin' Donuts. You can get it now at your grocer. I do believe they offer flavors.

I started buying Tim Horton's coffee. they are the Canadian version of Dunkin' Donuts.

Great, mild coffee. Low acid so it doesn't repeat on you.

Coffee, like so much else, is such a personal thing. And admittedly, I am a Keurig user and haven't purchased ground coffee in some time. That being said, there are some wonderful Starbucks coffees. I like the Verona that chou chou above mentioned as well.

My ILs are big coffee drinkers and generally use Folgers. Seriously, when I drink Folgers at their house it tastes like some *fancier* blend. Must be their brewer. B/c when I used to make Folgers it didn't taste like that!

On 10/26/2014 suzyQ3 said:
On 10/26/2014 HappyDaze said:
On 10/26/2014 RoughDraft said:
I've never tasted feet, but I love a good cup of coffee.

I agree with a few others, that you're really not a coffee drinker at heart and if you are determined to become one, only you can decide on a favorite after sampling what's out there. I like mine strong, with just a dash of cream and a little sweetener. My favorite coffee is Hawaiian Kona, if you can find it.

I love organic Hawaiian Kona! I love dark, bold coffee in general but am pretty picky with taste and these days I am opting for decaf as much as possible. I drink mine black most of the time, occasionally a splash of real cream but mostly just black.

Have any of you tried a french press for coffee? I think I want to try one.

Espresso is somewhere in the middle; it has less cafestol than boiled or French press coffee, but more than paper filtered coffee.

wow very interesting! Thanks! I wonder if a reusable "gold" filter works as the paper filter does (I assume so). Well, I don't want to affect my cholesterol in any way so I will pass on the ol' french press.

ETA: oops just saw the part about you not using the gold filter. Do you really think that matters? The article makes it sound like it is just a filter that helps. Sorry, don't know how I missed that part before!

I use a my k-cup, but the knock off kind and the solo cup. I use Gevalia. I love their flavored coffees and their dark brews. I also like Sams club Sumatra coffee found at walmart. I also like Starbucks blends and Target house blend.

I recently picked up an Aeropress . It makes a nice dark brew. There are tons of videos on how to use it and create different strengths. Unlike the Keurig, it forms the oils from the coffee. I typically drink my coffee black, but do like flavored creamers and do love the Pumpkin Spice creamer this time of year. French vanilla is my regular daily choice. I make a great latte with these creamers. Good luck experimenting and finding your way into the wonderful world off coffee.
