O/T Help Finding Shoes for Daughter

My daughter wants a purple dress for the holiday season this year. She'll wear it for Christmas Carols at school and I always get her picture taken @ JCP. To be more specific, it's the purple / glittery dress on the front cover of the new American Girl catalog. My problem: shoes. I can't find any to match (looking for purple). I have only one bridal store close to me and they do not carry shoes for children to be dyed and on line seems to have a lot of glitches. I came across one pair at Land's End, but her size is sold out. She wears a 13 or a size 1. I was thinking just a patent, black shoe but I don't think will look nice. If anyone has information that can help, I would be very grateful. Thank you.

I think black patent will look lovely and will go w/any other outfits she may like when she is past wearing the purple dress for Christmas. I cant help you in any other way but to give some encouraging words-my DD is a grown woman.

ScrapHappy, perhaps e-bay may have what you are looking for. Black patent leather will look good and you could dress them up by adding a clip on bow for shoes.

When my sister and I were little, our dress shoes were black patent in spring and summer and black velvet or suede in fall and winter. Now patent seems popular year round.

If you find shoes somewhere else, I am sure if you have a shoemaker/cobbler in town they will dye them.

I also think a silver ballet may look nice with a purple glittery dress.

I wish you luck. You remind me of my mom, she always went the extra mile (sometimes 10) to dress me in the perfect outfits.

I also suggest trying payless. I would imagine that you could find a nice pair of dyeables.

As I recall, that transition from child's to woman's sizing is tricky since no one seems to stock a lot of them. Good luck on you search.

I vote metallic sparkly if you don't find ones to dye or match.

Black leather, patent, or suede shoes would be classic and lovely with the purple dress! If you look closely at the picture on the front of the A.G. catalog, you'll see that the girls are wearing black tights; the smaller girl is wearing a black headband, and the dolls in the photo appear to be wearing black shoes. You can't see the girls' feet in the pic, but I'm betting they're wearing black shoes too. I actually think purple shoes will be overkill. Black shoes will be lovely and more subtle.

GoodStuff.....the black tights does look very nice with that dress. Just wondering if it will look as nice with the dress on the new cover? It's more sparkly.

I tried Payless, called a local store. They don't even sell dyeable shoes. On line, they're just for adults.

My daughter is 9, a young nine (usually wears a size 7 in clothing). Do you think she should wear tights? If so, what color and with what shoes?

Tight would be nice in a sheer light sparkle, black, white or dress sock in the same color pallet or without any. I still like the idea of a silver shoe. You could do some special earrings, bracelet, and hair bow/band for an extra special treat. She is growing up, so maybe a little kitten heel would be nice too!

I thought I'd found the right American Girl cover with the same purple dress, but I guess not? I haven't succeeded in finding another one with a different purple dress, so I don't know exactly what it looks like. Still, on general principles I think black shoes should be fine. She could wear black or purple tights (if you can find the right shade) or sparkly tights. Just my opinion.

My niece has a size 12 foot and my sister has luck finding shoes for her at Talbot's.
